    Probably?

The dimensions are exactly that of the Idol 4S, while the innards point to the rumored Idol 4 Pro/Pro 4/whatever the hell it is.

That doesn't mean it can't be a nice phone with the added BlackBerry security, etc. Price will be the key.

Hopefully. They did a great job with the DTEK50.

To be more accurate, both the Idol 4 and DTEK50 were built off a TCL reference design.

Likewise, the DTEK60 will be built from a TCL design that Alcatel used as well to build their 4S and 4Pro. They are all a bit different.

Even BB10 phones aren't really manufactured by BlackBerry themselves. Just FYI

    Yup.
Seems like a it's the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro with BlackBerry sauce...... which will also be released with Windows Phone OS installed
    http://m.gsmarena.com/alcatel_idol_4...news-20415.php

Will be interesting to see how the BlackBerry-Android version compares in price to the Windows Phone version.

Also has the same basic specs as the ZTE Axon 7 http://www.androidauthority.com/zte-...-hands-694960/ which is priced at $399

    I'm guessing $499. That's $399 plus $100 for BlackBerry value-add.

This one strays more from the Alcatel siblings than the DTEK50.

Classic and Z3 were Foxconn devices. Passport, Leap, and Z30 were from Wistron.

It's funny that people are complaining about the pricing when many people have stated they were willing to spend more money to have OS updates on PlayBook's and BB10 devices. The extra money you're paying for these PRIV's and DTEK's give you those updates, usually promptly. Will the cheaper Android devices give you that? Probably not.

As others have pointed out, that argument isn't even valid. The only argument about Alcatel/BlackBerry manufacturing that is even somewhat legit would be if you said..

'I could buy the Alcatel version cheaper'.

The main difference is not the production, but the design. Like other pointed out, BB has already outsourced production of phones some time ago. What's really new is that BB is not even designing the phones anymore. The new DTEK branded Android phones are just cheap chinese desigined/built devices by TCL with a BB label on it.

They've been well reviewed for design, quality and value.

Here are photos of the same phone, the TCL 950... in Polish:

    http://www.tabletowo.pl/2016/07/28/c...afic-na-rynek/

Since the price point of the TCL 950 is $400 I suspect DTEK60 to be another $100 more... plus maybe a pre-order perk like the external battery pack again, or maybe a shell/case, etc.

Th only thing I don't like is the camera lense sticks out from the back. It should be flush with the back cover. Is this how the DTEK60 will be as well?

I'm pretty sure it will be different enough for people to know which is BlackBerry and which is Alcatel. I hope it gets released in November with a good marketing effort to score good sales this holiday season

I think there other major differences between real BlackBerrys and the re-branded ones: BlackBerry's antenna (forgot the name) that is supposedly better at reception and it's legendary call quality.

Those two make all the difference to me.

So, it's safe to say no PKB Android BB anymore? or Ever? I was really hoping for a non slider Classic-like or Passport-like, running android.
I seriously wish there was a way to hack Passport to run Android.

    Interesting, thanks.
There hasn't been any leaks or plans on that, so I wonder if they can make it to 2017 Feb.
I said the same thing about DTEK50 and others, I didn't think they could release it with so much hush hush (no leaks) and it turns out it was just a rebrand of existing device, hence no leaks etc.. That won't happen with PKB BB Android because there is no existing device they can rebrand, they would have to make one from scratch, and I doubt BB will spend time on HW anymore. I hope I am wrong, but we never know.
