I am not tech savvy. Can someone layout the tech differences between what the Priv has under the hood as compared to what is rumored to make up the Dtek 60?

    Thanks

    DTEK60:
    5.5" diagonal, 534 PPI, 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution
    Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit Quad-Core (MSM8996 with 64 bit Quad-Core 2+2 Kryo 2.15GHz / 1.6GHz), Adreno 530, 624MHz GPU
4 GB RAM, 32 GB Flash, SD card slot
    USB Type-C
    3000 mAh 4.4V non-removable Lithium-Ion battery QC3.0 Enabled
    21-megapixel auto-focus rear camera
    8-megapixel Fixed-Focus front camera
    Fingerprint sensor
    Convenience key
    Virtual keyboard

    Priv:
    5.4" diagonal, 540 PPI, 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution
    Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 64-bit Hexa-Core (MSM8992 with 64 bit Hexa-Core 2 Cortex-A57 1.8GHz + 4 Cortex-A53 1.4 GHz), Adreno 418, 600MHz GPU
3 GB RAM, 32 GB Flash, SD card slot
    Micro USB 2.0
    3410 mAh 4.4V non-removable Lithium-Ion battery QC2.0 Enabled
    18-megapixel auto-focus rear camera
    2-megapixel Fixed-Focus front camera
    Virtual + physical keyboards

So the DTEK60 has a slightly larger screen, better CPU, an extra gig of RAM, the new port standard, a slightly smaller battery, better cameras and no physical keyboard.

Looks good but they should put a bigger battery in the DTEK60. Has bigger screen, more power than the Priv and the Priv has a bigger battery. That doesn't make sense. The Z30 Has a 2880mah and its only 5" screen. I don't think 3000mah will get you through a day. Anyone else agree or it just me?

Aaaaand... we're still at square one here, lol. Still not buying the reason for a curved screen.

Personally, I find it pointless. It's a terrible typing experience, especially if you have to hit keys on the edge of the screen where it curves down. That's not ergonomic or anything, it's a step backwards. While BlackBerry did that nonsense on the PRIV, I'm glad they didn't do that on the DTEK50 and I hope we don't ever see it again.

DTEK60 will not have a curved screen.

    Just look at the Alcatel 4S / Alcatel 4 Pro / TCL950.

Higher resolution does not make for a better camera. Unless there are more reason for you making this conclusion, in which case, please share.

Front camera alone, but I'll pull up the camera sections:

    DTEK60:

    Rear Camera
    21 megapixel auto-focus camera
4K video recording at 30 fps
720p HD video recording at 120 fps
Phase Detect Auto Focus (PDAF), Fast focus lock
    HDR
    6-element f2.0 lens
Dual Tone LED Flash – Enhanced photo color balance
    4x digital zoom
Continuous & touch to focus, face detection, video image stabilization
    Panorama, Burst, Live Filters
    Multi-frame Low Light Enhancement

    Front Camera
    8MP Fixed-Focus, f2.2
    1.125um pixel size
84˚ wide angle/field of view lens
HDR, Live Filters, video image stabilization
    Image & video stabilisation
1080p HD video recording at 30 fps
    Selfie Flash
Wide Selfie Mode (also known as Selfie Panorama)
    Multi-Frame Low Light Enhancement

    Priv:

    Rear Camera:
    18 megapixel auto-focus camera
    Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
Phase Detect Auto Focus (PDAF), Fast focus lock
    HDR
    6-element f2.2 lens
Back Side Illumination (BSI2) Stacked Sensor
Dual Color, Dual 2 mm2 LED Flash – Enhanced photo color balance
    4X digital zoom
Continuous & touch to focus, face detection, image stabilization
    Panorama, Burst, Live Filters
4k Video Recording at 30 fps
1080p HD video recording at 60 fps
6DOF video stabilization combined with OIS for incredibly smooth video

    Front Camera:
    2MP Fixed-Focus, f2.8
    Large 1.75um pixel size
    Image & video stabilization
    720p HD video recording
    2X digital zoom
Wide Selfie Mode (also known as Selfie Panorama)
    Multi-Frame Low Light Enhancement

The only uncertainty is OIS on the DTEK60's rear camera, but given that the only Alcatel Idol 4-type device with a 21MP rear camera is the unreleased TCL 950, that has to be figured out later.

Not confirmed, but my guess is that it won't have OIS.

On the plus side, it has a lower f-stop, and higher MP.

The wider aperture is a plus.
The higher MP not necessarily so.

The 820 is so much faster and smoother than the 808. I'm using both at the moment. One in a Priv and the other in an s7 edge. No comparison. Also, it the 820 stays much cooler. I'm not sure about battery consumption but it is disappointing that the DTEK 60 doesn't have a bigger battery than the Priv.

Also, it is unfortunate that the DTEK 60 specs don't mention the antennas. Priv has an excellent antenna on the GSM version. Stellar. I don't know what the Priv had until after I bought it, several months after release. Got lucky.

If you want a keyboard... get the PRIV.

Unless the difference in price is an issue, I would say the DTEK60 "specs" are a going to make it a much better choice.

The DTEK60 needs a bigger battery than the Priv. 3000mah is not going to cut it for a high end device like the DTEK60. It has a bigger screen, more CPU power. I don't know what BlackBerry is thinking. I don't think that will be enough juice to make it through the day or I might be wrong. I don't know.

It's supposed to last 7% longer than the Priv. And unless I'm killing aliens or watching midget wrestling, I easily get through the day with the Priv.

Unfortunately, Blackberry does not decide the battery size. Its a rumoured 'reference' design. so they just tweak the externals and make it look 'better' and the internals stay the same. Just like the DTEK50 it has the same battery as the Alcatel Idol 4
