Please don't. It's one of the most iconic and convenient things about a BlackBerry. The phone doesn't vibrate, or make any sound but it just blinks at you. And you know whether you have gotten a BBM, a WhatsApp, an email or a text message.
Charge $10 extra but don't leave that out on the pretext of a 'design decision'

I'm still waiting on the next great BlackBerry phone and I have to agree with this. It makes zero sense to not have the iconic notification light.

This is one of the reasons I haven't picked up the dtek50. I need the RGB LED to help me know if it's work (ignore) or family (answer)

True. That's why I am never ever going to pick up a DTEK50

Leave it to Blackberry to make every wrong decision a company could possibly make... The flashing LED light is so simple yet so powerful, why remove it??

I would like to go further and ask for an update to android settings/blackberry launcher to allow for rgb customization without having to download another app.

Absolutely! That is again something so basic
Would also like to see dark settings across the OS. On the app launcher page as well. hate the white.

Well, they didn't make or design the phone this time, so not really surprising, but still disappointing.

They could have added it just like they changed the back.
Don't think it would have been that big a deal

I'm not entirely sure if a RGB LED could get bright enough to be used as a front flash, so even if it's possible to change it not sure if they would want to lose the front flash feature for it given how narcissistic people are now. Selfies are super important to the herd.

I think for higher flagship devices they won't but the DTEK50 is meant to be a budget workhorse for enterprise fleets and budget minded consumers (who like BlackBerry). I like the DTEK50 a lot as an all touch, but I do miss the coloured LED notifications. The white blinking light is better than nothing but not as good as the Rainbow!

It would have meant changing the circuit board that the LED is mounted on, which probably would have required changing the connection to the main PCB which would have necessitated changing the main PCB itself. That means manufacturing changes at several stages of production. For an LED.

At that point they're no longer using an off-the-shelf phone, and they've lost any advantage in going to an outside design.

Silly as it sounds, going from white-only to RGB would likely mean no DTEK-50 at all.
