Default Turn off tone while DIALING?

9780
V 6.0.0.285

I can't seem to find a place to disable the sound coming from the keys when dialing. This OS navigates differently than my pearl so am I just missing something?

I've searched and found people with similar issues but not on the bold 6.0
Thanks!

There is no setting to turn the sound off. All you can do is change your actice profile to silent or vibrate, which will silence the dialling keys.

Thanks but quick question.

If I go with the Silent profile, can I still set my phone to vibrate+ring with whatever ringtone and my texts to vibrate+beep?

Dunno?

You can edit those profiles from Options > Sounds and Ring Tones > Profile Management to make your phone still ring and texts beep, but I have no idea if that will affect the silent tone of the keys while dialling.

Typically, the only way to silence the DIALING TONES has been to use the Silent or Vibrate Profiles.

I don't know if this is what you're speaking of, or if it helps, but have you tried going to Options->Typing and Input->Keyboard->then unchecking the selection box for Keytone?

Again, not sure if this is what you mean, but this is how I silence my keytones when dialing.

HTH.

That method only turns off the keypad tones for normal use, it doesn't silence the keys while dialling. If you press the green call key and start dialling a number, you'll see what I mean.

Changing the profile to silent or vibrate is the only way to do this... or plugging a headset into the jack

OK. As I stated, I wasn't sure about this one. I see what you mean about general use of the keypad. I think the reason for my observation with dialing is that I use speed dials mostly for my most frequent calls, and dont have a tone. But, yes, I see when dialing a number fully, there is a tone as you stated. Cool.

Hi,

why not just type the number from home screen without pressing the Call key first, it will still dial the number you want and with no key tone at all.

Regards,
