Alright this is what you do press the menu button>profiles>advanced>menu button>edit>then you can edit anything in there such as the sms mms any ringtones you wanna change then when you are done at the top there is name. give it a custom name since this is your custom ringtone selection for your ringers after that it will be saved into your profiles and bam your done!

It looks like a speaker.

It's much better to just go to Profiles > Set Ringtones/Alerts.

It changes the ringtone and vibration for each setting but keeps the volume the same.

I have my son's cast off 8830 and it took forever for me to find this. All of the other suggestions didn't work. I finally was able to change my alert tone:

Press BB button -> Profiles -> Advanced -> Normal -> SMS text -> You can change all your setting for in and out of holster there.

It seems people were leaving out to select normal to get to the SMS selection.

The BB is VERY confusing ... If I set something and come back months later to change it, it takes a few times til the menu will come through the way it is supposed to.

I hope they fix this in the new Bold 9930 !

Hello everyone,
So I figured out how to set my sms and mms tones but when I get a text, the tone only plays for like 1-2 seconds. The tone I have is about 4 seconds long (it's Rue's four note tune from Hunger Games). Please help Thank you all in advance!
