Text message tone

Hey I just got my phone and I don't know how to change my text message tone can anyone help me out.

You came to the right place!!! Simply got to Profiles>Select the profile you want to change> Select SMS> and change your tone! Hope this helps

where is the profile button when i go to ringtones thats where the music stuff is i want to set a file as my notifer to one of my own sounds that i put on my phone how do i change it to one of my tunes Please help

Profiles should be an icon. Go through your icons and find it. Click it. then scroll down to advance. Then highlight the profile you want to edit and hit menu then edit. Then scroll to SMS and change the tune.

In addition, go to the screen with all the icons listed. Scroll to each one, and rest on it, it will list what it is. The icon for it changes based on each profile, so I won't tell you what to look for...

when i highlight a profile (loud, quiet, vibrate etc) and hit the menu button, it goes back to the main screen. Its on an 8300WE

When you get the profiles pulled up, if you go to the bottom of the list, it should say advanced. Click on that and then you can choose which profile you want to edit. Then you will want to go to SMS and change it there.

I just got my blackberry and i have no idea how to change the ring tones..i did what i was told to do and it still is making the same sound as before...i also dont understand what it means when I press save in advanced profiles and it says i need a name or it can not save.

I need to be able to set individual tones for text messages, setting different tones for different people, is that possible?

yes its possible for text messages just go to your ringer icon>advanced>then chose sms and change the ringer.......now for your contacts go to your address book highlight the contact hit the BB menu key pick add custom ring tone and your set just be sure to hit the BB menu key when you're done and select "save"

I can change the text message tone through Profiles then Advanced but, when I turn the phone onto vibrate for work, it changes the text message tone back to vibrate. Do I have to change the text message tone back to what I want every time I change the profile from vibrate back to loud?

When I select advanced off the profiles icon I do not see the option for sms. Here's what I see...

Loud (active)
Vibrate
Quite
Normal
Phone Only
Off

Use Active Profile Except For:
-Important Calls
-Calls from Chad S. (my husband!)

Once you go into Profiles, you *first* select which profile to use. Then, go back into Profiles and scroll all the way down to "Advanced". That is where you change the various notification options for each type of event.
