| | Ring Tone for Unknown Caller
Can you set a special ring tone for an unknown caller, IE a caller not on your contact list?

I dont think there is anything built in to the phone app for it.
You could try this. Make a contact named 'Unknown Caller' and set a special ringtone for it.

But I don't mean unknown caller, I mean a caller not in my contacts. ANy caller not in my contacts who has an unblocked number will not show up as unknown caller.
Furthermore, if I make that a contact then it will automatically be known, not unknown, despite what I call it.

What I did for that once was assign one ringtone (the same one) for all my contacts, and assign a standard ringtone for whatever profile I'm using (normal, loud, etc.). Basically my phone would vibrate for unknown numbers, and do the classic phone ringtone for everyone else. Its pretty simple to do.

You know you can also get a APP to block all calls you dont want. Think it is called Call Blocker Pro in the app world. Free for 14 days then 5.99 I think...one time fee.

I don't want calls blocked, I simply want a unique ring when someone who is not in my contacts, calls me.

i got close to 650.
i seem to get what you wanted to do..
pretty much like what girlontherun did, i have an assigned ringtone with matching BeBuzz ( LED alerts) for my contacts..
this is just an example..
since i have 650 people in there..
i have assigned X ringtone for Work group ( 280 members)
i also assigned Y ringtone for Friends and Family ( 150 members)
and then i assigned Z ringtone for the rest which you can name " KNOWN" group ( car insurance guy, doctor's office, mechanic, travel agency etc. )
now go to Profiles and assign a tone different from X,Y and Z tones.
now, in case i call you.. since i'm not in the contacts, i'll be considered unknown, you will hear the ringtone you assigned for that profile..

I love the idea but don't need them sitting on my "all" page, too. Any way around that? I tried hiding them and putting them in a folder, but that took them off the favorites page. Thanks for any ideas.

I hear ya, mark and thanks for the reply.
problem is, i tried that.
made the folder (called favorites), couldn't get the contacts into to.
could you tell me the exact steps you did, in the correct order, to see if i can duplicate your idea?
much appreciated.

I learned from another post, the "location" button, funny, i didn't notice that. here's my new problem...
when i follow those steps, i can't see the contact either in the favorites or the folder. when i go back to the contact it says "remove from home screen" so it thinks it happend. i did "show all" and it wasnt' hidden.
any suggestions?
thanks again.
