Default invalid ring tone selected

*****FIX***** (i hope)

Love how I troubleshooted this myself. The only fix that seems to work is to change all ringtones and alerts through the menu to change ringtones in the profiles menu (the little icon on the top left of the tour home screen). If u change sounds/alerts/contact rintones thru the options menu this is causing the problem

also my music works flawlessly now too.

Tried pulling mem card too. Now I noticed themusic I put on there won't play. swapped out memory cards, nothing changed.

I noticed the keyboard and back buttons dont make a sound after I play any music or ringtones I put on there. Once I play a default ringtone, the keys and back button now makes a sound. I can do this over and over.

I used DM 5.0 to put music on there. After putting music on card, the music didn't show up, it did show that the card's memory was used. Later on I noticed the music must have updated or something cause it was all there.

Hopefully in the morning someone will help.

hmm.. try this once..

send to email download from the email directly onto device?

if that doesn't work it seems like something may be corrupt in the software of the device.. may sound crazy but whats your memory like..

did you fill the onboard ram memory?

well the battery pulls stopped working for the last two tries. the application memory is at 116.7 mb free and 2gb media card is at 1.3 free.

it doesn't stay too long maybe a day before it reverts back to the same old default ringtones.

im pretty much at a loss for a solution. I've googled this and I'm not the only one.

I am a new member as of today. I just got my 4th Bberry - the 9630 Tour and was experiencing this 'invaild selection' business - frustrating. What do I need to do to correct it?

the solution was right above your first post. change all your sounds to something else first, then change them back in the profile alerts/sounds profile

Had problems getting Tour to recognize downloaded ringtones that I installed via DM. I would have them changed using the Options menu>Ringtones/Alerts. Sometimes the new ringtones wouldn't even show up in the list. Found the fix, thanks to the idea by Kegman, above.

Here's the deal. Two things need to be done:

1 -- Make sure the ringtones are loaded into the ringtones' folder on the hard drive, not on the memory card's ringtones folder.
I recently installed an 8 gig card, which doesn't have anything in its ringtone folder. My first go-round, I installed the ringtones into this folder. Then I deleted the new ringtones from the card and installed them into the hard drive's ringtone folder.

2 -- Click the speaker (sounds) icon in upper left corner of home screen. Click Custom profiles>Add Custom Profile. Go through each and make whatever changes, then save each.
When done, be SURE TO DO A SAVE where the categories are listed under the Name: xxx. Exit.
Click on the Sounds icon on the home page, click your custom profile to make it active.

In the future, make any changes to sounds by editing your custom file.

Having a custom file also saves you from having to re-do sounds if you loose them. Just click on the custom profile again. All better.

The TOUR is awesome!!! A blend of the Storm and the Curve, and then some.

Thanks for the posts, Kegman. I finally downloaded some ringtones from CB last night. I just tried the suggestion you posted above and I'm still getting "Invalid Ringtone Selected".

Anyone else have any ideas?
