Default can i assign different ringtones for text messages and voice messages on my 8130?

just got my pearl two days ago, it's my very first blackberry and i love it! something about me is that i'm a creature of habit and i like things a certain way and i have no patience for exploring so i just wanted to know if any of you smart crackberry people know if i can have one ringtone for text messages, and another one for new voice messages. i was also wondering if you guys know if i can silence the keytones when i dial a phone number, i really can't stand hearing the beeps...creature of habit

    thanks in advance!

so i just got off the phone with my ex and he told me that what you do is go to profiles, scroll down to advanced and select it, then you have to highlight each individual profile sound style and hit the blackberry button and choose edit, it will then pop up a list of different alerts, you then select mms, sms, voicemail, whatever you want to customize then and customize it however you want, then be sure to save new settings and you're set! have fun.

Yea, but you can't do it for individual contacts. If you change the tones using the above method, it will change it for anyone that calls/texts.

Currently, there's no way to make the S/MMS tones different for individual contacts.

(At least that I'm aware of)

All of the above is correct! Also, there's no way to disable the key tone when dialing a number, just gotta get used to it.

    Ok here it is:

When you add a new person, scroll all the way down and where it says User 1: you can add a custom ringtone

Default i know alot about blackberrys

here is your answer to custom text ringtones for each person
. (The person(s) you want to do it for has to be already in your address book.)

    1.--- Profiles> advanced> blackberry key> new profile>
Name the profile the persons name. Then customize that profile to be what you want. For instance I have just sms and phone changed. After you are finished click mouse and save.

2.--- Stay in the profiles. blackberry key> new exception> At the top name the profile the persons name. scroll down to active profile and change it to the profile name you just made. Then change the custom phone tune to match your profile. Click save.

3.--- You will never select the profile... its just there as an extra... you will just keep it on vibrate or normal. Say if you want it to not work like when you are in a movie... just uncheck the box next to the exception at the bottom of the screen when in addition you select the profile vibrate... when you select off... it automatically does it for you.

Let me know if you guys have any questions... im sort of a blackberry whiz and used to be a store manager for at&t
