I'm planning to buy a secondary device and since it's secondary I plan to use it for at least 2 years. Is it good to invest in a Q5 now?

As a secondary device for two years I'd say yes.

My brother has it and for me it's a bit on the weak/cheap side for a daily driver.

Well worth it. It's going for rock bottom prices these days (got a locked Telus version for $60 used on Kijiji. Someone else mentioned a new one for $90, I believe.)

I think it works nicely as a daily driver -- great size, keyboard, screen, battery life...works beautifully with a 10.3.1 leak too.

I currently use a Q5 as my primary device, simply because I can't afford anything better. It's a very solid phone and works very well. I've had no problems with mine and the keys are nicely spaced out.

    8/10 for me

Q5 is also my backup phone and I love it. Other than the build materials and camera, it's pretty much the same as a Q10. Its has Better battery life and screen than the Q10 as well.

Thanks everyone! I am not able to decide between a Q5 and a Z3 now. If I have the option of a Z3, should I go in for that instead of Q5? Kb or touch doesn't matter because it's secondary and not my daily driver. I'm thinking about the Z3 because of the screen size obviously but at the same time I wouldn't want to carry two big devices (Z10 as the daily driver).

If you have the choice, I would take the Z3.

The Q5 has no double typing issue. And yes, they can be bought for $90.00. Got mine at Great Canadian Superstore for $90.00...

    Best $90.00 I ever spent.

I just went into Superstore, and the Blackberry Q5 must have been on sale for $90.00 for a brief time. It's now back up to $129.00.

Still an excellent device! Buy one, you won't regret it.

If I were u, I would go for Q5 as u already. Have a Z10. I have both a Q5 and Q10. Q5 is pretty comparable to Q10. Fantastic keyboard with instant actions. Just thought that u may have more fun with Q5 and may end up becoming ur daily driver

It's easier to carry around as well due to its perfect si2.

I have a q5 and a z10. The z10 is a great device for videos, photos and Web browsing. The q5 is better at communications. Anything involving lots of switching between keyboard and application. I find myself preferring the q5 more as my primary device now.

Go for a q5. I actually traded my z10 for it and never had any regrets. The keyboard and battery life are just amazing.

I'm now using it for my backup and it works pretty well. Note that my main purpose is for comm (ie. bbm, whatsapp, text n call). My LG G2 is for any other purpose (entertainment, media consumption, photo, etc)
