What I loved about my 9900 was the phone hardware button.. could get to the phone from anywhere..

Can this be done in BB10? Or I have to always swipe and go to Active frame then hit the phone icon?

I'm asking if you can get to the dialer from within another app without going back to home or active frame screen.

There is no way to do that from what I know.

But the current way of swiping up to get to the home screen from an app and press the phone icon is soooo damn easy and fast.

Can't please everyone all the time. It's still quicker than iOS or Android.

Don't use the phone icon, use search icon and type "call <name>". Way faster than using phone icon.

Actually now the bbos7 still on better sale than bb10 os. So why not make a phone to satisfy all those bbos users?

As smooth as bb10 is, it drives a little clunky compared to os7 for reasons like this. Put me down for a classic!

And I really seem to like it this way.. instead of the conventional way.

What's wrong with you guys? Since when is swiping up, waiting for a display to refresh then pressing a "button" better than pressing a button? Executing the swipe maneuver itself takes longer than a button press.

The only advantage a non-toolbelt phone will have is (possibly) physical size... either you get a smaller, easier to carry phone, or you get a larger screen. There's no rain dance in the world that could be more efficient than a [rain] button.

Most of the users of a smart phone don't use it to make enough calls in a day to justify the need for a dedicated call button.

It's like if I had a button for the camera, or a button for the calender. I use them almost as much as I use my phone to call people lol

I understand that some people won't use the physical buttons as often as other people but to suggest that they're somehow inferior is ridiculous.

I would love to have the Phone app be given the same priority as the Hub.

In other words, it should always be running and should not be animated.

When I tap the phone icon, or the minimized app, it should appear instantly and be ready to go. If they could do this, I wouldn't miss having a dedicated button for dialing.

Download Noted, my 5-star rated, native BB10 notepad app.
