The Q5 is now available for Rs. 19,990 in India!

It was launched at Rs. 25,000. The price was increased to Rs. 28,000 a few months ago.

    I think it's a pretty good phone at Rs. 20 K.

Very cool! It's always a good thing when we can get a great device at a lower price.

Still just over 400$ and this is high for a phone in any of the BRICS countries. That would be 4200 ZAR in my country and will not set the sales records I'm afraid.

    Rs. 20,000 ~ US $ 320. The 9720 sells for ~ $ 260 so I think the Q5 will sell at this price.

In the past BB hasn't dropped the price of phones in India till they almost stop selling. When they do drop the price the media reports it as a liquidation sale. If they do frequent price drops every couple of months or so once the phone is 3 - 4 months old that will help them to keep sales consistent.

I hear you. That is fortunately not an issue in my country. People will try to get the cheapest possible.

Unfortunately that's pretty much par for the course when it comes to technology. Most companies milk the early adopters and then drop prices pretty frequently. When did you purchase it? I guess it feels especially bad if you purchased it just a couple of days before a major price drop.

Based on what I've heard sales have picked up quite a bit after the price drop. There was an article in some newspapers today regarding the price drop so that will probably further help sales in the coming days.

Hi, I paid 25500 in Bangalore on 01st Dec 2013. Not many stores sell the BlackBerry in Bangalore. Checked atleast 7 stores before I got one store selling the white one which I grabbed.

I find it fascinating the poorer the country, the more expensive branded goods are and more people with no money are willing to buy it. I would not be surprised if BB sells better in India, Philippines, Indonesia than in Canada.

For comparisons you can grab Q5 in US right now for $250 without even asking the question if they can go lower.

Import cost and all applies as well, I believe.
Living in Pakistan, not only is BlackBerry devices are priced higher than their country of origin but also lack the accompanying accessories!

I wanted the official red soft sleeve for my Q5 (because it has holes for logo at the back). Nothing!
There are two shops that keep exclusive BlackBerry products and they have the supposed official flip covers for Q5 - not even red. Privacy protector is something unheard off. The telcoms that are supposed to be official partners of BlackBerry don't do well when it comes to accessories. Heck, they keep the newly launched devices for the VIP customers.

Samsung on the other hand fares quite well here in terms of accessories. But I digress, there are a lot of contributing factors to the price issue.

I bought my phone for 42.5k (with warranty) and now the prices are gradually dropping.
