Got tipped the other day that a large corporate BlackBerry user in a "developed " country is considering replacing their +1000 Curves (OS5/6) finally by.. Q5s very soon (before all those 8900/9300s brick or die from age )

Z10 was evaluated, mixed reviews, and Q10 might be judged to expensive for a company wide deployment (one model only..)

Was surprised, since Q5 still needs to launch and is aimed at developing countries according to BlackBerry, but replacing outdated 8900/9300s at this scale might be an interesting business case, and give full OS10 / BES10 capabilities at half the price of a Z10/Q10 deployment

Alternative of BOYD, preferred by many employees (BlackBerry lost its coolness factor over here years ago) expected to be more expensive/complicated and less secure / more hassle for ICT support...

Big question of course: will they allow users to pick colour themselves, including pink, or will they get special company colour such as yellow (batch of +1000 devices, so why not?)

Any more companies around you know off considering this large scale lower budget corporate deployment of BB10?

    Tipped by who? Sources???

I like the Q5...its not aimed at just developing countries, I'm sure it will be available in the UK too.

someone from the IT-department of that company, involved in the selection proces; cannot mention names etc, thinks as issuing a new corporate phone is as sensitive as reorganising the company or having people move offices: everyone has an opinion, and you only hear the people who complain, the happy ones stay mute..

That sounds great! I'm sure BlackBerry has close contacts with corporations. I hope what you are saying is true!

The more BlackBerry 10 devices out there, the merrier.

I would expect to see this pattern repeated in plenty of companies and even with the lesser specs than the q10, it will be a huge upgrade from much older os5/os6 devices and hopefully it will work wonders for improving the perception of BB with users who think that such old devices are what BB is actually like.

    see my anwer above...
btw, KPN now appears to be offering " basic" corporate package for €35/month per person, including Z10s... not bad if you ask me; unlimited package for €55/month per user

It makes sense to me. The average company doesn't make the highest end phones standard, and the q10 is very expensive at $600-$700

Like if a company is deploying Iphones they seem to go with 4s or 4 right now, not the latest

Well that was the plan BB already had a huge user base With the upgrade roll out they would be plenty fine. And with a hit and miss approach to loosing adding new users. The already installed user base was very important in revenue.

And yes companys i have worked for have always opted for the curve.Q5 is way more than a solid replacement its iphone 5 spec.
