I have been using q5 for 2 months now. I can't help but feel q5 takes a long time to charge. Almost 3 hours to fully charge from less than 10%.

Android takes less than 1 hour to fully charge. I am using BlackBerry charger only. I want to know if its same for others as well.

Compare how many mA has your charger(BlackBerry) and how many mA has the other( fromAndroid device). I was charging my Bold 9900 with the charger 850mA(original, from the box) and a charger from Sony Xperia Z Ultra which has 1,5A. It's faster, but i in my opinion i prefer the longer time with original charger, it's more healthy for my battery.

It depends on various factors. For example if you use your phone while on charge it will take a little longer. But yes the charging time is a little on the higher side because of the mAh of the charger, it's only .750. Whereas most phones have atleast 1-1.2. I charge my Q5 with data services turned off and it takes anything between 2-2.5 hours.

My Q5 takes around 2.5 hours to fully charge even if I'm using it while charging.

I'm using the PB charger (1.5-2 A, I believe?) and find it charges pretty quickly, though I haven't timed it. Maybe try charging in airplane mode?

3 hours is about right, mine takes about 2 hours from 25%

    Think about it this way:

The faster you charge a battery the less change it will hold over time. The slower you charge a battery, the longer it will last over time.

That made no sense at all. What has charging time got to do with performance?

Depends which charger. The one with the cheap USB cable is slower than my old charging set ( which came with my red Z10 or 9700 if I remember correctly)

Flight Mode it's charging very fast. Not even 1 hour I guess.

Ermm yes? Well I don't know the technicality but, I'm using my standard charger from BlackBerry which is 850 mA, I get longer time from 100% to 90%. But when I use my tablet charger which is 2A, yes it's much much faster when charging and much much faster to drain. I believe there's some theory or something about why that happens but I forgot why..

i can't explain to much as to why this happens without getting technical and losing everyone, but here is another example.

Look at the apple Mac Book pros chargers, why would they have a 60 watt charger & a 90 Watt charger for different models if it didn't matter how fast a battery charged?

If you charged the 13" Macbook pro with the 90 Watt charger instead of the 60 Watt it would charge the battery quicker but would damage the battery over time and you would end up with less battery life than you would normally get with the 60Watt

While a battery charged with a fast charger may show 100% full, the runtime from the charge will be less than if you had charged it to 100% with a slower charger. The battery lifespan will also degrade faster from frequent rapid charges.

I've been using my PlayBook charger to charge up my Z10 mid-day. It's quick, but there are two problems - the fast charge doesn't last as long, and the battery is holding less and less of a charge as time goes on. But while the Z10's battery is a bit small, the phone was properly designed with an easy to replace battery. Which I think I'll do.

2 to 3 hours is a normal charge time for a Li-ion battery. Charging a Li-ion battery with a lower current will increase the life of the battery.

I think you will find that your battery is not actually completing a full charge cycle at the higher current, and that is why it is not lasting as long.

Battery charging time is mainly a function of the battery charger current, not the device's operating system. A higher charging current will provide faster charging times. A lower charging current will increase the life of the battery.
