My q5 consumes 1% every 2 minutes on 3g web browsing or 3d gaming. On wifi it takes 4,5 minutes. Is that normal? I feel quite dissapointed, on screen time around 6 hours.

Yes, 3G consumes more battery. 4G even more.

    It's normal!

That's unusually high. What battery consumption % does the device monitor show for individual apps? You can tap each entry and see individual graph for that app.

+ Reduce the sync intervals for the ones that show higher battery consumption. Or better still set sync to manual in non essential apps.

Switch off location services. You'll need to do this separately for BBM.

Reduce screen brightness & screen time out interval.

Switching to "manual" network selection with "3G only" also helps.

Helpful suggestions by gvs1341. Can you tell a newbee how to reduce the sync intervals? Is that through settings for each app?

Also should internet radio like tunein be a big drain on battery life? I saw steady and more rapid use when streaming from this app.

    Thank you for your help.

Tunein is a BIG battery hog. I experienced this with my Q10. So this is something to be mindful of if you use the app often. Maybe do an experiment and not use it for a couple days and see how your battery performs?

My sync interval is 15 minutes for emails and manual for rest, however I get the same battery time with 3G on. With tethering my battery goes from full to zero in max 1.5 hours.

I read in several threads it is normal.

And is the 3D game Android? That contributes to the drain as well as even a normal Android app drains battery

Personally, I don't see the point of such an app in BlackBerry as it has its own 'Device Monitor' that gives more information on the battery, usage, etc.

A mains charger with a long cable is useful (says he in a restaurant "on charge").
