Just discovered something rather strange. I can hear what I believe to be the antenna. When I hold the phone like I'm making a call I can hear a slight buzz. Each buzz lasts less than half a second followed by an equally long pause. If I turn the flight mode on it stops, as well as when I lock the phone. I'm not running any applications in the background. I've also checked it with only the cellular signal on, as well as with only the wifi signal on. It's there no matter what. Also, even if I turn both the cellular and the wifi signals off its still there. It only stops if I turn the flight mode on or lock the phone.

Can anyone explain to me what exactly it is that I'm hearing?

Odd question I'll ask, but, how old are you?

Older people loose the ability to hear into certain higher sound frequency ranges.
Electronic devices operate into the frequency ranges that younger people may hear.
What you may be hearing is the "sound" of the electronics that make up the radio portion of the device, so shutting off the radio in Flight Mode stops the noise.

I can hear it as well. I hear electronics all the time.

Do you hear an electronic ticking noise from your phone?

I even sent it in for repairs when I first heard it, but they said there was nothing wrong with it.

I have a niece and when she was in her tweens, she couldn't stand to be in the same room with a CRT TV or a console game device.
She said it made a painful noise.
Me being only three years older, I heard nothing.
She was like that until her early twenties and, needless to say, did a lot of reading.

This used to happen to me too. I could actually hear it all over the house, no matter what room the CRT TV was on. It's been a long time since I've heard it, although mostly because I can't remember the last time I have seen a CRT TV on.

I can hear a small noise coming from the bottom of my Q10 when I turn the screen on. It goes for about 5-15 seconds then the sound goes away.

I can only hear it when I put the bottom of my phone right up against my head, so I usually don't hear it.

I'm 16 so I'd say my hearing is still pretty good
