Being a frustrated z10 user, I got the q5. I've read a lot on here about how the q5 battery lasts a day with moderate/heavy usage. I got my q5 on Friday and plugged it on the charger immediately without even switching it on. However, the power was fluctuating. The light will be on for two hours and go back off for about one hour. It continued like this through out the night with my q5 plugged. When I switched on the phone in the morning it was 92 percent. I charged it full and started using. On 3g the phone lasted 5 hours. 9:15 am till about 12:30. I'm not satisfied with battery at all. It's almost like the z10. I'm using the 10. 2.1.2102. Do I update to 2977 which is what is available here. I don't want a leak. Or do I get a new one. I'm thinking the problem is from the the way I charged the phone before using it.

With modern batteries you don't have to swet the charging details like we did years ago. With a powerful enough charger of 1 amp mine fully charges to 100% after a few hours, with the stock or standard it takes about 4. Your Q may not show its true battery life until after a few days use once everything is synced up and settled, once that's happened you should be easily able to get a full days use out of it unless your in a poor service area or any other annomolies.

With 3G it's 5-6 hours at max with screen time.

You might want to compensate by increasing sync time of accounts in hub and setting manual sync where possible for other apps. As suggested by a user in the same forum, different thread:
- keep the screen brightness to a minimum
- switch off bluetooth, nfc, wifi, etc when not needed
