    Dear All,

I got a Q5 BB Phone with a manufacturing defect, after a lot of running around the BB Service Center(India) . I think a company called B2X care is in-charge and has agreed to replace the phone, however they have stated they will not give me a Box piece but a phone which is through the non commercial channel..

Meaning they will not give me the phone with the normal packaging for a brand new phone but what they are going to do is they will still provide me a brand new phone but without the packaging, as it is through the non commercial channel,

As a customer i am completely confused can someone please help me understand what are they actually doing, are they giving me a new phone, and how to check that the phone they are giving me is a brand new phone and not a refurbished one... All responses welcome

    BB Get well soon

Replacement devices often exclude normal retail packaging.

I had a BlackBerry Q5 sent out for repair. They ended up shipping me a brand new device back in cardboard and bubble wrapping, along with a large sticker to place on the side of the device's original box, which had the new IMEI Number and other related information.

These are refurbished/returned units. New ones come in new retail packaging.

I remember when I had an iPhone, the serial number of the refurbished phones started with a 5 and you could identify the manufacturing year in one of the digits of the serial number *** well. Don't know if BlackBerry does something like this, but you could see if you can get to serial numbers of new Q5's and see if they are different from your replaced unit. But replacing your defective unit with a refurbished one is pretty common, though every company can have a different policy on this. I know Apple only sends you a completely new one after replacing your phone twice after the first issue. Don't know about the rest. Perhaps BlackBerry has this info for you if you e-mail, twitter or BBM channel someone. Hope the folks who replaced your unit don't lie about these things and sent you a new one like they said.

    All the best!

Usually the imei stickers will have the name of the refurbishing company or no brand at all.
