I've recently bought a second hand blackberry Q5, when I turn it on, it starts the initial setup routine, it won't go futher than wifi setup- the phone keeps searching for wifi connection but does not find one. My home wifi is working perfectly so this is not the issue. I've installed a data enabled sim and it connects to network, but does not make an internet connection via mobile phone network. So far I've tried all the obvious things like rebooting it, connecting to Blackberry link and reinstalling software to no avail. I've also tried it in a area with better mobile reception than I have at home.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Try taking out your sim card and see if the process then completes. Please let us know if that works.

I must say this is a truly weird problem.. I was glad to mention a data enabled sim but you tried it... only 2 possibilities that come to my mind now are:

1- you have an unofficial version of the OS that contains NO radio file.

    2- hardware error.

Try a different sim card, if that fails, return the phone for a refund.

Do you have ( BBVE blackberry virtual expert) installed on your device? If not load it up and run tests this should be able to advise the issue.

Hi Thanks for they suggestions, I don't have BBVE on the device, but I'm not able to get past the wifi set up on the initial phone set up, so have no way to download anything onto the device. Even when I connect via BlackBerry link, I can't connect properly as it says device has not gone through set up yet. I'm pretty sure this is a software rather than a hardware issue. Does anyone know how to delete the phones software and start again, something like using App loader on the older OS 7 phones?
