Not a complaint, just an observation:

Whenever I go to lock the phone, I'm hitting the bottom right corner of the screen with the palm of my hand, launching the camera.

Had the same problem with the Q10, but didn't think about it enough to track down the problem.

I wonder if that's why my battery life is lower than I'd expected...

Part of the BB 10 design is to allow picture capture quickly even when the phone is locked. It requires holding the camera icon in the lock screen for at least 2 seconds for the camera to be active rather than a simple tap on the unlocked state

If you're activating the camera from the locked screen, you should check your phone handling habit

No, it's when the phone is unlocked, and I go to reach for the power off switch with my right hand, the palm kinda wraps around the screen a bit and brushes the camera button, which opens instantly if the phone is unlocked.
