Just to bring to the notice of our non Indian Q5 users and non Indian forum participants reading this thread, the q5 sold in India comes without NFC.

Yeah, which is why you frequently see Indian tourists buying blackberry devices in singapore. To be fair though, at launch in india the non nfc q5 was slightly cheaper than the rest of the world. They just specced the q5 way too high to sell at upper low range pricing.

People who could afford the q5 likely could afford the q10 and just went with the q10.

For South Africa, the BlackBerry Q5 came out as R5,499 and the Q10 was R7,999 I then waited about 8 Months. Picked up my current Q5 for R2,499 and the Q10 for R3,499 so basically saved 50% on each device!

I'm very happy to wait for a device to save money. It might be "old" tech by the time I buy it Buuut it's an upgrade from my previous phone.

It's always the early adopters who are at risk. Particularly with price and hardware/software issues.

These things will sell for what the market will bear and prices will be adjusted down as needed to move inventory according to whatever strategy fits corporate goals. Clearly you spent what you felt the device was worth to you, how can you blame BlackBerry for that? I don't remember when I learned that high-tech devices lose value rapidly but I know when you learned it.
