Greetings, I am thinking to buy either blackberry q10 or passport ( imported ones). I am concerned about the blackberry services, if they would work or not. As most of the sellers in India have listed that bbm won't work as the device is imported, I am skeptical if i should buy from ebay.com .
I bought imported bold 4 few months back and it's working great, but i was never able to get bbm work ( even after subscribing to bis).

So guys please suggest, should i buy an imported device or not?

BIS not required on BB 10 devices.

No BlackBerry 10 device needs, or uses, BIS. It uses the same kind of network connection as any other smartphone.

I am a heavy duty Q5 user and I was also thinking of upgrading to a Q10 - the imported ones from eBay.

I am wondering if you could reload the OS onto these imported phones and make BBM work? What exactly is preventing this from happening?

These are supposed to be box packed unused phones that are coming to India. So why block the BBM? Or other blackberry services? I am guessing the email client will probably also not work.

Has anyone been able to find a solution?

    Thanks!

As stated, you don't need BIS. If the seller says there is NO BBM on the phone, check this thread.
And no, you can't force BlackBerry to register your device
