    phone was working fine, fully charged. Made a phone call, put it away next time all I have is an unresponsive black screen

    Could be a dead battery. Have you tried plugging it in? Maybe a connector for the screen is loose? Cable to a laptop and see if it recognizes the phone? I once bombed the OS on an Android in the same manner...needed to order a replacement. See if you can revive it it by holding the power button for 10 seconds and then see if you can boot it again?

    Also, plug the phone into a TV with the HDMI out. See if anything comes up.
