Want the Q10 to replace the 9900. I have the option of going with either a Z or Q free with Telus. But the Q10 has such a premium feel to it I love it. I need the keyboard too, and only use a minimal amount of apps. A Friend of mine says lots of problems with the Q, but not with the Z.How is blackberry when there are issues with the phone? Do they have good service on exchanges? Any hassels? I never had issues with the 9900 so I dont know? Thank you!

Q10 is a much more solid device than the Z10 IMHO, I've owned both, and you can't go wrong with either. The Z10 virtual keyboard is amazing, however the fact you state you need the keyboard, is clear indication that you'll want the Q10.

Do be aware of somethings though:

No home screen quick dial (Can be implemented in Software Update)
No home screen keyboard shortcuts (Can be implemented in Software Update)
    No Trackpad
No dedicated sidebutton (ie pressing the 4th side button on the 9900 opens the camera or what ever app its set too)

    Minor issues in all cases.

I don't think there are more problems with the Q10 compared to the Z. The Q of course has an additional failure source which would be the keyboard:
Some users reported weird tacticle feedback or even malfunctioning keys, often out-of-the-box.
On the other hand side, the Z10 had quite some reboot problems in the beginning, some obviously hardware related.

After all I really don't think the Z is any more or less reliable than the Q.

The bold 9900's are awesome! I have two of those in the family and they are still working. We have since moved to the Z10 and the Q10 when they became available to my carrier. So far, no issues. From the looks of the phones, I would say that the Q10 is more sturdy and more well built than the Z10. I use the Q10, and the wife uses the Z10.

I've had my Q10 since it's release on May 4th. No issues so far.. I've been running a leaked 10.2 version since it's come out and I would really recommend leaks.. they're much better than 10.1 at the moment.

The only small software issue I've had is text freezing if you restore texts from your legacy device. A fix would be not to restore your texts from your old phone.

Otherwise, great phone and it can also take a big fall!

As a owner of both phones i believe i can say that the Q10 IMO is the superior phone! I thought screen real estate would be a problem but it honestly doesn't really bother at all. I thought it would have since i watch a lot of videos on my phone but nope.

I've had my Q10 for over 4 months and haven't had a single problem or issue. Get the Q10, you won't regret it.

Telus and BlackBerry support the q10 quite well. I had a problem with an overly sensitive key and they gave me a Z10 as a loaner, when I got the phone back, the headphone jack didn't work. Off to repair again, and again a Z10 as a loaner.

Although needing repairs twice is a bummer, sh1t happens, and both Telus and BlackBerry have done a good job keeping me going.

I think your friend is wrong OP....I've seen way more defective Z10.....personally had 3 of them....the Q10 has been solid. And like you said, you "need" keyboard....that's the choice....
not like saying your wife needs the car to be automatic, and then turning around and buying a manual....
or do you mean you want that z10......

I don't know why anyone would say the Z is a better phone than the Q from a reliability standpoint. If you like the qwerty keyboard, don't use a lot of apps, like the smaller form factor, and want to do emails and messages in blazing speed there is only one choice. Really. The Q will do everything you need it to out of the box.

We've had 2 Q10's in our house for several months with no problems. One is on 10.1, one is on 10.2, both work great! No better phone in my opinion for productivity and messaging.

This is off topic, but yesterday my q10 fell off my shelf and came crashing down face first on the hardwood floor. Drop of about 6 feet, and not a thing wrong with it still looks brand new. Try that with a normal iphone or android.

I've had both the Z10 and the Q10. The Z had a problem in that the phone would drain the battery in 4 hours or so. Bought an extra battery and still had the problem. Switched to the Q10 with the Otterbox Commuter and could not be happier with the quality of the device.

I like the Commuter in principal it just makes the phone into a bit of a brick.

The only issue I'm experiencing is an occasional erratic text typing behavior when using Android apps. It's hard to explain, but you'll know what it is if it ever happens to you.

No issues like that with native apps, so I shouldn't really b!tch about it

For what it's worth, I have the z and love the typing experience on it. It will take about a week to a month to get used to the typing and also for the phone to get used to adapting to the way you type. Once that happens, typing on the z10 is pretty fantastic.

I don't have any personal experience with the Q. But I'd say if you like what it offers, get it. If there's defects, deal with that.

Anyway, I'm a huge proponent of the z10. If you give it a chance, I think you'll like it. And the extra screen real estate is really nice to have.

Well, that is the mail reason to get the Q10. If you're not getting it for the improved battery life and keyboard, you might be better off with the Z10.

    Q10 is solid.

It's a much different device from the 9900, so there will be some things that you will miss.

I've had the Z10 also, actually manage several Z10s at work and my wife has a Z10. It's come a long way in the reliability department once they released 10.1 for it.

I'd feel very confident going with either one, but I do feel that the Q is a bit more reliable. Although, I am not sure how much of that is from the fact that the Q came with 10.1.

Because of the reboot issue, I had to do exchanged with the Z and they were more than happy to support the request.
