I used to have a big battery problem and it was my outlook push email. Try turning off push and see what happens.

    Very warm phone/battery & poor battery life-img_00000116.png

This my battery guru chart last night. Plugged out the charger and went to bed. As you can see it died just before 5am with ZERO usage from a 100% charge.

I have tried everything, wipes, latest software (4181), screen brightness minimal, gestures off, diagnostic off, and many more. I even turned off the radio signal and still got the same drainage rate.

When idle the battery still drains at -1.3 to -1.5w.

I came across a similar situation with a friends phone. I reloaded the OS and after that it was fine. NOT wipe but reload using BlackBerry link. Did you update OTA? While idle my q10 sips at -0.01w. I think that's the norm.

    Try reloading via link.

I tried to reload via Link but I must be doing something wrong, cuz the phone still has all of my info and apps on it.

When I click on 'Reload', the phone reboots, then I get a message saying that i have the latest update on the computer, and the phone loads as normal. Nothing has changed, apps and info still there.

Reload the OS. Then do a security wipe directly on the phone.

Or backup first then do a security wipe. Followed by a reload and then another security wipe. Then restore.

The other thing to keep in mind is that I've found that many ported apps and sideloaded apps use resources in the background sapping power. Before you restore your app data. See if your battery life and heating issues has dissipated somewhat.

I just received my brand new Q10 from Verizon Wireless yesterday. I tested BBM video for 2 hours straight with a friend who just got a z10. He told me that his phone became unbearably hot, while mine wasn't even warm...

One thing I am noticing though, I took my Q10 off of the charger at 6:30am this morning, it is about to be 10:30am and i'm already down to 84%

All i've done this morning is check email, sent 2 BBM's and 2 text messages. I also browsed for about 2 minutes this morning. Nothing running in the background. Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi all off - running on 4GLTE.

This phone is brand new - and I know that there is a break-in period, but I really hope the battery life does not continue like this. Tomorrow I will test heavy usage to see how fast I can kill the battery.

Oh and if it makes any difference, I am running OS 10.1.0.2011 that came straight out of the box.

16% usage on 4g is pretty good imo, it would be a lot less on 3g and even less on wifi

+1 that's pretty good considering you are 4G. Remember that most 4G networks around the world have not been in service for that long and it's coverage is limited thus stressing the phono to switch between 4G and lesser network modes depending on availability of service.

I find 3G is fast enough for all my needs including surfing, YouTube, social networking email, and even bbm voice calls. Video conferencing is the only time I find myself needing 4G so I leave mine on 3G.

Dont forget the difference in settings.

The most beneficial battery saving tip is to reduce the screen brightness down. I've got mine all the way down and it's still very usable even in the sun.

The very soon to come 10.1MR should alleviate any battery other problems.

I've got the brightness down, unfortunately for me and many others, the VZW Q10 does not allow you the option of toggling between 3g and 4g, I am thus stuck pumping out an LTE signal - otherwise I would test it with both 4g and 3g to see if that theory holds true...

    Update: 1:02pm and i'm at 66%

had a 15 minute phonecall from 11:45 to 12 noon - other than that, she's been on standby

    Other good tips:

Turn off blackberry link unless you need it.

Turn off "automatic time zone" and "set time and date automatically"

Get this app on blackberry world called "battery guru"

While idling your phone should not consume more than 0.02w.

Mine has diagnostics, protect, 3G and it idles at -0.01w.

You would have to leave the phone for a few minutes to settle before it switches to idle mode.

Ok...my phone seems to have settled down. I did not do anything else beside the original reload.

It is now idling at -0.01w and I am on my 12th hour on a single charge and I am still at 30%. The phone is nice and cool.

Let's hope this continues. Thanks so much for the help.
