I'm trying to use Blackberry Link to transfer my Bold9900 to my new Q10. I get them both set up and it appears that the transfer starts, but then an "error" occurs and I'm told to make sure my device is on and plugged in - which it is. I'm getting very frustrated with the new blackberry - I just feel like very obvious things that people would want/need were not taken into consideration - like making sure you can easily switch from one device to another and have all your data backed up/restored.

People can easily switch. I made the switch months ago, and it worked seemlessly
It's an user problem, so please don't blame BlackBerry for what they've done. It's something on your end because countless others have made this transfer

    OK. Now, let's start troubleshooting
First! Pull out your Q10. Unless they changed it recently, it first backs up your 9900, then transfers to Q10
Your Q10 may be interfering with the backup.
If that doesn't work, try with your Q10 in airplane mode. Sometimes if you are connected to wifi, it messes up the transfer process.
If all else fails, try another computer. Maybe your computer usb ports are faulty

Unfortunately, I tried all of that, and it stops at step 3 with the error...

Hi! Sorry to hear you are having problems. In addition, I would reboot the pc and reboot your phone to be sure they are making a connection.

Yeah, I'm just giving up and accepting all my lost data... that did not work either... my IT department is also no help, they told me this was not possible...

Anyone tried backing up with BlackBerry protect on the legacy BlackBerry than go on the new bb10 phone, setting, blackberry protect, restore.
This should transfer contact, BlackBerry id informations and payment, most settings, etc.
