I am new to smartphones so please be patient with me. My question is: I have a Q10 (lovely machine) and I have installed WhatsApp. Want I want to do is using my finger select the contact and once the curser is in the message field to "dictate" my text using "assist"
I have tried several times and get random links to i.e. Evernote or it tries to find my dictate on the internet. I want it ONLY to put my dictation into the message box...NOTHING else.
Can someone help me please parrot fashion? What switches are there in "assist" set up in order for me to do this.
If the facility is not available then will someone simply tell me.

Depends on the phone. Regardless, all of them have a 'microphone' icon on the keyboard somewhere, on my passport it's on the period (.) button. Hold that button and you can dictate.

Sorry..I miss lead everyone. I already know how to activate the microphone (press mute key) It takes my dictation readily. Its whats happens to that dictation that its going wrong. I want it to go into the message filed ONLY as a TEXT. Any advice please. Thanks

I just told you how to do it. Don't press the mute key, that opens the assistant. Read my earlier post carefully.

Note: this is for my phone, the passport. Open the Help app on your phone and search for 'voice dictation' for the instructions for your phone.
