I am noticing that when swiping, I see finger streaks on the middle to right side of the screen, but not when I swipe on the left side of the screen. Is it possible for coating on the screen to be wearing out. I usually use the middle to right side to swipe. Could this also explain the Newton's Ring effect which is the rainbow effect I see on the screen with my finger marks left on the screen?

Ring effect is most likely from the oil from your fingers that are on your phone. Wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth. You should be good.

And you shouldn't be able to "wear out" the screen. It's glass.

Normal bb q10 dont have newton ring effect. Yours might be defective. Post a pic.

I did clean it with a microfiber cloth, but it only stopped temporarily. But I went on my wife's Android phone and tested it out and the effect also occurred on that phone. Maybe I need to wear gloves? Like I said, the left side of the glass hardly leaves any prints. I am not sure this is worth returning a phone for, as I fear what I get in return may have a more serious problem

Sounds like an oily screen, usually from when the phone touches your face during a call! I recommend a bit of eye glass cleaner and a microfiber lens cleaning cloth! This way it prevents damage and keeps the front of the BlackBerry clean!
