I just got my brand new Q10 today and am retiring my Q5. I got a question I hope you can answer.

Is it possible to change the dark theme that is present throughtout the OS? I really liked the white one from the Q5.

Also, is the screen on the Q10 bad? When I lay them side by side I actually prefer the Q5's screen - it's more crisp and bright.

Q5 has a 329 ppi IPS LCD display, constant backligth needed (for black, white or any other color), better view in the sun, ...

Q10 has a 330 ppi Super Amoled display, thinner, energy efficient, better viewing angles, infinite contrast ratio (black pixels emits no light),...

So, you know now why dark background are literally energy efficient for your Q10. I prefer the super Amoled (from Samsung) of the Q10. They both have their strengths and weaknesses

Yes you can change the black theme to white. Depending on which app you are in you just need to click off the dark background and in the settings for the hub too.

You can change themes to light on all apps, they usually are just set to dark by default. Same goes for a couple of third party apps. Keep in mind however the dark themes are more energy efficient due to the way the display works.

By the way, while both phones use the same ppi, the Q10 has a pentile-matrix while the Q5 has a traditional RGB matrix. The Q10 has less subpixels compared to the Q5, so even though it does have the same sharpness in theory, the effective ppi is lower for your eyes. It is a common and well known problems for pentile displays.

Thanks for clarifying about the screen. I just can't seem to find a white balance that means the white pages are white. Perhabs it's just a matter of adjusting to it. Because atm the Q5 screen looks way better to me than the Q10 which is a bit disappointing tbh.

Set it to the center, that's all Mine is real white. Can always be a faulty screen but I don't think so. It's new right ? I think you are simply used to a backligth display, not more white, but with more light

And if you're insomniac, slide it to the warm color at night

Set it about center now. My real problem is probably with the auto brigthness. Rigth after having it placed on a lamp the screen looks very good, but it dims almost immediately

I like the screen of the Q5! It is way better and nicer than Q10! But in other ways Q10 rocks!

Anyone know if we'll get an option for turning the auto brigthness off with 10.3.1?

Just plain stupid if we don't. All other phones have this option. Sometimes I really hate BlackBerry.
