Since yesterday the battery of my Q10 is behaving in a weird manner , the performance is suddenly dropped.
The phone gets heated & battery starts draining fast.
Device monitor also does not open.

Try a hard reset first, and did you load any new apps in the last few days. Delete it.

Well try a hard reset, see if it helps, and I guess you found the problem, I don't use android

This has been happening to me too. I found out it's how the OS reacts to the SD card. Still dont know a solution other than hard reset and removing the SD card.

I erased the Google play store and all the related apps to it, but that doesn't solve the issue.
    Device Monitor still doesn't open.
Call logs doesn't show latest calls made.
    Handset still gets hot.

Since I was mostly using the Z30, I decided to use the Q10 as a backup, so I removed the battery and stored them. A few weeks ago, I needed to have Wi-Fi Calling working (I'm on T-Mobile USA), so I popped the battery back in. The battery drained fast, like within four hours! My previous experience was two days! I kept recharging it and it would still drain fast. My thinking was that I just needed to let it settle, even though I hadn't installed anything new, app or OS. I did the power on/off without avail. I did the hard reset (vol up + vol down) and power on/off. Somewhere in the midst of this, the Q10 went back to the two days. I'm not sure what caused it and Device Monitor looked normal, though heavy on the System side when it draining fast.

My thinking is that it has to do with removing the battery and letting all the internal charge dissipate. It then acts like a newly OS installed device?

P.S. It doesn't have anything to do with Cobalt's patched Google Play store, as I didn't have that installed.

I just experienced this with my BlackBarry Classic and i managed to fix it! Try to see what's draining your battery in the Device Monitor. In my case, the problem was OneDrive. The app was trying to upload photos but for some reason it couldn't, then it tried to do it again and again which was draining the battery super quickly and it was very hot. SO look it up in the device monitor and see what the problem is. Good luck!

Best way if you're having heated or battery drained excessively:
Open Device Monitor > CPU > close ALL apps that you don't use especially Android apps.
Headless running apps especially androids tend to overwork and causing the processor to work when it's sometimes not necessarily needed.

I close Play Store and related apps each time after a restart.
And sometimes when you use an android app, it will push Play Store to run headless as well.. this will make it run in the background without you noticing it.

Remember if you close WhatsApp or any related apps that have headless functions, no notifications will go thru until you open those apps again.

    That was an iPhone joke.

My serious advice (and I have been using BlackBerry 10 since day one) is to simply connect the power cable and leave it on all night and connected to wifi. 24 hrs should solve the problem. It sounds like it's indexing the the SD card or contacts are being managed. Leave it and see what happens.

I'm on a Z30, Software Release 10.3.2.440, with working Device Monitor and Cobalt's patched Google Play Store.
