I recently got theQ10 and have received large bills. I was told that I'm sending MMS messages the cost me extra. But I was only wanting to send text messages which are free.
Is there a way to disable MMS mode? As I only need to send texts messages.

First of all welcome to crackberry.com

Let's double check a few settings and see if your device is setup correctly..

From the hub, tap the 3 little dots on the bottom right (the over flow menu and look for settings..

From there click on text messages..

From there click on advanced at the very bottom

Then find the drop down menu called "Send Text-Only Message as" it should be set to SMS.

And let me know if your settings are the same, and if they aren't.. make it so

Thank you for this. I have done all that you suggested but Im still getting the MMS mode coming up on certain numbers. I contacted my service provider (Vodaphone) and asked them to take off the MMS service as my bills are enormous and I cant sustain these costs. But this has not been confirmed.

Has anyone else had this problem with the BBQ10?
Any other suggestions please?

I have the same problem. When I send Sms to certain contacts it automatically changes to MMS. The reason it happens by me is that it sends to multiple contacts

I noticed the same thing on my Z10. When multiple contacts are chosen, my text msgs are sent as MMS.
