There was a great feature with the Bold 9900 keyboard!
If you press shift + Enter you would be able to type on a new line without sending the message yet!
It seems this feature has disappeared with the Q10! Very frustrating whenever i try to compose a BBM, whatsapp, gtalk or any IM message with multiple lines as soon as I press shift+enter the message is sent!

    Any workaround to this?

This feature isn't available yet. It is supposed to be coming in the future 10.1 update this summer.

Here was a screen capture and post from BlackBerry's Micheal Clewley on his BBM Channel.

Something for the 10.1 update in the summer. You can now use ALT-send to carriage return to the next line. Works in both BBM and text (sms) messages.

That sucks. Maybe it's a feature they are saving for the full release. All though, at this point, they shouldn't hold onto any features and push out all the goodies as soon as possible!

Yes just tried it, the alt+enter works. But u have to do it twice. First time you get the dictionary, if you press cancel then alt+enter again it works

You can do it now but it's slightly different. Hold the alt key until it locks (turns blue) and then hit Enter to go to a new line. It works on my .238 version.

    Alt+Shift+Enter

Or Long press on Alt until it turns blue

Or, remember AutoText on Legacy OS?? (From theyre to they're etc.) Enable it on ur device (don't understand why It's not set by default) & set a shortcut like 'qqq' to change it with the Line-Break sign

I hope this helps till the 10.2 release mid summer

Why don't you use the autocorrect function? It does almost the same...
You can find under: settings / language and input / prediction and correction / word substitution.

Can you set the enter key to be a linebreak on the Q10? I prefer that than enter=send

Odd. Some apps allow for shift+enter while some don't.
