    Dear all,

I brought a blackberry q10 via souq.com by a Verizon service provider. I subscribed for the 79 dhs service on July 6 and till now it is not working in my phone. try to resolve the problem with etisalat but the told that the sim is working properly for service and they also told it might be of the problem of the software which is installed in this phone, they also told that the phone might be locked. So I do not have any idea what to do please do help me out

    Hi welcome to CB!

If it's the Verizon Q10 (SQN100-2) it would be unlocked. VZW devices come unlocked out of the box. I can't say why it won't work, doubtful it would be software related though. Once your carrier's frequency is supported it should work!

Not sure here but if you want to check if your phone is locked or unlocked, go into: settings/security&privacy/ SIM.

Scroll down and you should see something like this if it's unlocked.

    Service isn't working on Q10.-img_00000001.png

What frequency does your carrier operate on? Find out that info then refer to this link as it displays the frequency each Q10 variant can operate on. http://forums.crackberry.com/attachm...uencies_v3.jpg

From what I gather... the bands are compatible 2100Mhz for 3G some reported. Other than that they use the 900/1800 Band so you should atleast get EDGE...

It would be carrier related seeing that your device is unlocked etc (i can't see software being the issue, maybe for data regarding APN issues etc but not voice). Ensure the sim card is active, maybe try it in another device?

You can also try using a different sim in the device (someone from the household or from any friend). IF there are any other carriers, you can also try their sim as well.

Did you try the sim you have now in another device (it can be any other device, BBRY or not)

Have you tried one of your friend SIM card in your BlackBerry? Your phone could have a faulty sim card ready.

Is the sim card an actual micro sim? or the standard (mini sim) cut to a micro??

If this is the case (or if you are using an adapter to make it a micro sim...as in nano to micro) this could be an issue at times. Try getting an actual micro sim if that's the case (in both scenarios)

Saw another post last night about a similar problem, the user's sim card wasn't being detected at all... (tried cutting a standard sim to micro - didn't work. Tried original micro sim and still nothing.) He did get it to work however using a nano sim card and an adapter to make it a micro sim. No idea how that worked but... it's strange.

Sometimes the sim cards are a bit different. On my micro sim, the connectors (gold portion) has a smaller area than the one my gf's sim card.
