Based upon my work IT policy, my device locks every 10 minutes. But this setting in subject line will extend it. Does anybody know of any apps or have any ideas to automatically extend the lock time? For example, when I'm not using the phone, something that will popup or run every 5 minutes to make the phone think an app is running.

You could try BatteryGuru with the keep awake feature. The problem is, this is specifically against your work policies (as shown by them setting the policy to 10 mintues). I have no idea your work environment, but in any I have worked, specifically trying to go AROUND IT policies can easily be considered grounds for termination. There is a management, policy, and/or security reason why the policy is set to this, keep that in mind before you do anything (and also be cautioned that doing anything like this could be very bad).
