I have 3 Bold 9930 and 1 Q10. All of the 9930 keyboards are different from each other. One is very sensitive to the touch and very quiet, one is what I'd call "medium sensitive" to the touch and the keys do make noise and the third needs a harder press on the keys and is quite noisy when I type on it. In other words, it seems that no 2 Bold keyboards are the same. The Q10 keyboard has a medium sensitivity and the keys make a slight noise but I wouldn't call it noisy. I prefer the 9930 keyboards over the Q10. It's something about the curvature and the way the keys are a bit more intuitive for me. I don't notice the size difference at all.
Interesting - I never thought that there would be that much difference between units (of the same model) - maybe I have just been lucky regarding the units I have received from my Telco (except for the faulty ones that had to be swapped out....)

+1 on the steel frets. The plastic frets before would bend and make their own noises if you pressed on them accidentally...

Good point about the old frets. The way the silver paint would chip off really became unattractive as well.
The Q10 keyboard feels like it's built to take a beating for years.

At the time, I thought the 9900 keyboard was the best keyboard.. and then I got my Q10. They're very similar, and I never had both at the same time.

One day I was with my friend who still had a 9930 (before moving onto a gold/white iPhone), and I remember thinking how small the keyboard was on her Bold.

I wasn't a fan of the straight across look of the keyboard when images of the Q10 leaked, but I gotta say, it's perfect for typing on, and makes the 99xx feel weird.

I'm sorry but I came from the Nokia Symbian camp and I don't like the BlackBerry Q10's keyboard. I don't hate it either; I just don't like it. The Q10's keyboard feels "weak" and I feel over time it will become damaged or the keys will get stuck. I like the feel when I'm not typing though.

Love the Q10 keyboard more than the Bold keyboard. That said, and not to start a flame war, sometimes I miss that old trackpad.

I miss the tracker pad when I want to copy or highlight text and also move the cursor just a few letters back, it's a bit fiddly on a smaller screen....I can't seem to use that blue circle or 'pin' very well!!

Lol. I like both of them but its really funny when youre going back to 9900 after using Q10.. its feel awkward. I cant type without looking at the keyboard.

1 time I tried to send some email using my brother iphone after 1 month using all gesture Q10.
I kept swipe up when trying to quit an app and one time I was like.. "ermahgerd, I have no idea what im doing".

I have no idea how easy my life is after using Q10. I love my Q10.

I'm going from the 9930 and have been using my Q10 and got everything transfered. And getting it activated at Sprint this morning.

The Q's kb is larger and feels better on my finger tips and I like it. The Bold's kb is still kick ***

I've had both but between bb10 and the wider keyboard the Q10 is the winner in my books. The 9900 was the first BlackBerry I actually loved after using the storm, curve and a 9860. An awesome phone if you don't mind bbos!

I have been a LONG time BlackBerry user (back to the 7250). I have the Q10, coming off of using the 9900, and I must say the I prefer the 9900 keyboard to the Q10.

The 9900 keyboard feels more "ergonomically" correct, with the "smiley face" layout.

My dream BlackBerry would be an updated 9900, with a trackpad and the call and end buttons, running BB10.

Since my Q10's keyboard decided to fail, I have been made aware that this is a pretty common issue with Q10s.

Have a look at the threads referenced from my post here - there is a video of the keyboard problem on my Q10 too:

I have used a 9900 and agree it has an amazing keyboard.

What speaks loudest to me are the number of people I run into with one of the legacy devices who feel stuck with them. Seems love of the older keyboard is not enough to keep legacy owners stuck by their employer with the device, and for people who can get the modern device, the new OS doesn't make them happy. BlackBerry can't win either way, huh?

I think the Q10 is a solid device with some thought built right in to a modern gesture based OS. I suppose at some level it shows poor marketing by BlackBerry that it is stuck with its reputation (though it deserves a fair amount of derision just for its own hubris). At this point I don't know how BlackBerry changes perception whether deserved or not.

I had the 9930 for about 2 years and I really am not sure which I prefer. I have no issues with the Q10 at all though. I think I prefer it. One thing to note is that after a few weeks on the Q10 I couldn't type nearly as fast on the Bold, If that means anything.

I saw a picture today on the crackberry site (top 13 videos) and one of the first is one that shows a Q10 next to a Bold. It is amazing how oudated the Bold just looks next to the Q10. I haven't typed on a Bold in a while but my recollection is that the keys were a little softer.

I had 7, 9900's over the years. They all have keys that had issues and they all had uneven light leak, which I always hated.

I have had 2 Q's so far and both are solid. Maybe it's quality control. Maybe it's materials. But the Q keyboard rocks.
