I have owned 3 different Q10 since its launch. (don't ask.... switched back between it and an iphone because of some issues).

I really like the Q10 keyboard but after trying my girlfriends 9900 keyboard I must say that it feels even more solid. It is a bit more quiet too. Every key feels 100% sturdy. It is hard to complain since the Q10 feels good too, just not as great as the 9900.

Can people who have owned both devices comment on this?

Well this is sad for me since I'm trying to get a Q right now....really? you actually prefer the 9900 keyboard? I thought the Q was a tad wider....

ps: had the 9000 and the 9900, as well. both badass. q10 is not bad though. but the ergonomics on the bolds were just too good. hard to get any better.

I had both phones, 9900 and Q10, but I have to vote here for the Q10 is much more nice and is not as noisy as the 9900.

I had 6 different 9900"s from launch until two weeks ago when I sold my last one. Both great keyboards, but I like the Q better.

I own both and prefer the Q10. The bigger size and greater separation of the Q10keys made the greatest difference for me. I also like the steel frets on the Q10 over the plastic frets of the 9900.

I've had both, and I definitely prefer the Q10 keyboard over the 9900. I think the keys are more comfortable on the Q10.

I owned a 9930 for 2 years, and while I loved the curved Keyboard, the straight keyboard on the Q10 works well for me. As far as quiet, the 9930 was pretty loud, on more than one occasion someone asked me if it was Raining outside while I was sending a text message.

I've owned a 9900 for about half a year, but I've never owned a Q10. I love the 9900 keyboard, but when I tried the Q10, it was really hard for me to differentiate. Even if, for some reason, I still preferred the Q10's keyboard. I just feel as of it's more smooth, and bigger, even just the slightest bit.

Although the 9900's keyboard will always be something to look back on.

I use both the Q and the 9900 daily switching back and forth between the two.

The 9900 keys are softer I've had it since 6/2012 could be just well broken in. The Q's keys are stiffer I've had it since the summer. The stiffness could be because it's being broken in.

To me the Q10 seems more solid.

I really like the 9900 one, but I enjoy the feel and slightly more spaced keys of the Q10.

Of the 9900/Q, I prefer the Q's keyboard. Agree with others that my 9900 was quieter tho. My all time favorite keyboard is the Tour (I think 9630?). That thing was solid and the keys were buttery smooth!

+1 on the steel frets. The plastic frets before would bend and make their own noises if you pressed on them accidentally...

I like both keyboards but prefer the Q10. It is quieter and I like the straight style versus the curved. All personal preference though and I really loved both keyboards. Truly nothing out there like a BlackBerry keyboard.

I think the Q10 keyboard is the best I have used - even though the 9900 was pretty good too

I was disappointed with my 9700 keyboard (even though the rest of the phone, especially the battery life, was excellent) and felt it was never as good as my previous 9000

IM(H)O Keyboards in order of excellence:
    Q10
    9900
    9000
    9700

Note: I had to have my first Q10 replaced (next day by courier - EE UK) as the original one had a 'squidgy' space-bar

I love the bigger size of the keys on the Q10. However, I much prefer the curved layout of the bold 9900.

I have 3 Bold 9930 and 1 Q10. All of the 9930 keyboards are different from each other. One is very sensitive to the touch and very quiet, one is what I'd call "medium sensitive" to the touch and the keys do make noise and the third needs a harder press on the keys and is quite noisy when I type on it. In other words, it seems that no 2 Bold keyboards are the same. The Q10 keyboard has a medium sensitivity and the keys make a slight noise but I wouldn't call it noisy. I prefer the 9930 keyboards over the Q10. It's something about the curvature and the way the keys are a bit more intuitive for me. I don't notice the size difference at all.

Q10 - smoother, quieter and almost 'softer' - but that could mean worse for some

My buddy carries both with him and prefers his 9900. The 9900 is still a great phone. In fact right now at Rogers it's expensive than any BB10 phone (remember they don't have the Z30).
