I really liked my 9900 and it is a great device without question, but I prefer the OS on the Q10 over the 9900. The speed of OS 10 compared to OS 7 is very significant and for me that is a major factor.

    You again! Haha.

I had a 9900 in black and in white, and a Q10 in black and in white.

My favorite is the Q10 in black. When I first saw the Q10 in leaked pictures, I didn't like it. I do not like major changes, so to me, the straight across keyboard (not curved like the Bolds before), and the lack of trackpad and call buttons really bothered me. I got the Z10 the day it came out and then got the Q10 in June last year when it came out.

I instantly regretted having pre-judged the Q10. The typing on the Q10 is a lot better for me than the 9900, it isn't as "scrunched," and my thumbs feel more free to hit the buttons than on my 9900.

The Q10 and 9900 look very similar, but that is it. They function totally differently, and the Q10 is better for me in every way. The battery, camera, screen, and web browser are all much better. The speaker is better, and so is the keyboard.

Everyone who prefers the 9900 is just too used to it, and I understand. It was a great phone and I loved my 9900 for what it was, from the day it launched in August 2011 until March 2013 when I got the Z10. But it is nowhere near the BlackBerry 10 OS, and there is no way I would ever go back.

There are loads of posts on this in the forums, but I'll just give my 3 Naira 25 Kobo (Approximately 2 cents)....

I used the 9900 extensively, flogged it, broke it and fixed it extensively...hey, it just occurred to me, I've dropped my Q10 way more times than I dropped the 9900, its still kicking hard! The Q10 is by far a better phone all round, hardware and software, much more solid phone, build quality is far better. Coming from BBOS, BB10 is such a huge leap forward, it can feel like a step backward, quite a few annoying little things that should be in BB10 that was in BBOS, but the BB10 is maturing.

Above all, the Q10 keyboard is bigger and faster. Once you master BB10 and how it flows, there's absolutely no comparison in the level of efficiency of the Q10 above a 9900!

I have been debating on switching back to my 9930 with all the problems I am having with my Q10 (double typing, periods being added, words being changed, freezing up, ringer not working, ect.) but the speed, apps, OS in general is a lot better than the 9930. The 9930 is a great device but dated. I am going to stick it out because I really like the Q10 better than the 9930. I am planning on moving to the new devices when they come out in November.

I like the thinner 9900, curved orientation of the keys, the "tool belt", but not at the expense of BB10 & battery life.

Bold or Q... that's the question.

I have both. I used them 6 months parellaly (second sim-card, one being my "outdoor"-phone)...

I even managed to get the calendars synchronized by creating a BBM-Group-calendar, so that the entries in one are seen in the other... I finished by leaving my Bold at home, buying a second battery to swap if needed and am rocking only the Q10 now.

I got the Q10 on its release in Germany, days of 10.1 then and enjoyed every "official" OS-Update...

Do you know, in chess, some masters just do some move coz they feel it's the right move and have no real explanation.

Experience in life is also valuable and that's why you're asking for advice...

I want to say to you: "trust me and get the Q10, you'll never regret it!"
That move is superior than taking the Bold.

Alas, you can't coz there is always sth to complain about!

    Your decision, your move!

I have both a 9900 unlocked and a Q10 unlocked. I frequently switch back and forth because I'm rather indecisive. Some days I like the speed of the Q10, some days I like using the back button on the 9900. What irks me though is using the 9900 and trying to swipe up. That clearly doesn't work (at all). Recently found a BBOS10 app called shortcuts that allows me to switch sound profiles on the fly, so that's one more feature on the Q10 over the sound profiles button on the 9900. I do miss having themes - they're non-existent on the Q10 but plentiful on the 9900. Typing on the Q10 is a far superior experience. On a side note - my Q10 fits into my 9900 BB leather pocket case - the top just peeks out a little bit, so I didn't have to spring for a Q10 leather jacket. Currently typing this on the Q10 but may switch soon - you never know.

While I acknowledge different tastes I think, in my personal opinion and taste, the Q10 is the most beautiful QWERTY BlackBerry phone ever produced... until the Passport arrives.

How do you manage that, since the z30 would use a normal data plan but the 9900 needs a BIS plan.

The Q10 has the best battery of any phone I have ever owned. The 9900 battery sucks big time as it is very small (1230 mAH as I can remember)

Also, getting used to the new OS 10 takes no more than 48 hours then you will find your self doing things much better and faster

camera comparison, there is no comparison here, the Q10's autofocus 8 MP camera blows the 9900's fixed focus camera out of the water any day and in any shot

The browser in the Q10 is much faster, has Adobe Flash, the option to remember passwords as well.

Q10 hands down. Loved my 9930's buttery-smooth keyboard and the silver band around the phone. But there's no contest between the Q10 and the 9900s.

It all depends on where you have your data stored and how this phone would fit into your usage. For myself, I still work inside of Outlook and MS Live so I can manage my data with a cable, while using the computer with other devices to balance utility. Personally, I still prefer the Bold (waiting for the Classic) because I am being irrational and prefer hard keys. It also matters if you like to do data heavy activities, podcasts, streaming, etc., and need to leave your phone contract for core communications only to avoid a hefty bill.

Both the Q10 and 9900 are great phones but you have to know what you want out of that device. If you don't know, then there is no question in my mind, that the Q10 is the better choice.

I really want to know how you guys are doing this loll.

I just tried and it says data is not supported on my service plan and to contact my service provider. I can text and call, but no email or Web or data. My only thinking is that it's not a BIS plan.

Did you guys get your bolds recently? Mine is an unlocked rogers from 2011.

Mine is a 9930 from Verizon. I simply take out my sim card and shut down my Q10. Then I call *228 for Verizon activation on the 9930. I think BIS kicks in a few minutes after Verizon activates it.

Then when I go back to Q10 I have to turn off the 9930 and go online and activate my sim card #, pop it back in the Q10 and voila!
