Q10 Still a Prototype?
During the Blackberry launch last week, the Q10 was shown along with the Z10. Was that the Q10 "dev alpha" model or the final production model?

It's the production model. The Dev Alpha C is more boxy

I keep hearing BlackBerry 10 referred to as a "1.0 operating system". It isn't.
- It isa complete departure from the old BlackBerry Operating System.
- *It is also the next evolution of BlackBerry Tablet OS and has much in common with 1.0-2.1 of the PlayBook Tablet OS

So it's ready? Then why the delay?

Check out Crackberrys first Q10 "Hands On" video about the Q10, the one where Kevin chats with that "shaky hands" Blackberry rep. That guy said, the Q10 would be delayed due to software improvements as well as getting the apps right. The QWERTY SDK has just been released last weekend on the Blackberry Jam Europe, along with the Dev Alpha C. I guess they want to have everything set up there.
Also from what I read somewhere today (Crackberry? I don't remember...), the Q10 ships with BB10.1 - so basicly a newer version of what the Z10 ships with. The Z10 of course will get this update, however it seems 10.1 will be Q10s launch version. - 02-08-2013, 10:52 AM #6
I know Telus has started taking pre-orders for the Q10, so one would assume it's not too far off.

I'm not too unhappy (now) that the Q10 is coming out a bit later as it will more than likely have 10.1 and with any luck BB link will be working properly for everybody (having read a few frustrations that Z10 owners are currently having with transferring contacts and calendars)

Re: Q10 Still a Prototype?
anyone know if the q10 build quality is more in line with the 9900? or is it the same plastickyness as the z10?
the 9900 definitely had a premium feel to it the z10 less so...

The Q10 is slightly heavier and has a stainless steel edging so I am pretty sure that the Q10 will feel even better than the 9900. I am not a big fan of the back of the 9900 and the Q10 has a rounded edge to the back. The weave on the back of the Q10 is an improvement over the 9900.
Personally, I like the feel of the black Z10 better than my 9900.
Are you going to trade your Nexus 4 for a Q10 ??? wow ! - 02-11-2013, 11:58 AM #12

the network retailers here in the uk have stupidly silly prices for the n4 - £399.99 pay as you go (sim free) and then monthly tarrifs which again are laughable

i got mine the week it came out last november direct from google play hence the £239 price tag. tbh i'll struggle to justify spending £300+ on a phone again. ip5 here are £529 sim free and the z10 £479 ish - 02-12-2013, 11:24 AM #15
Well, Virgini gives you 10% off for bringing your own phone (at least on the plans I looked at). Also, if you have your own phone and aren't locked in, you are free to choose the best plan for you whenever you want, even if it is in a different "tier" than you started with. That way you can take advantage of holiday specials etc. when plans are cheaper.
