Hey there! I live in LA, so welcome! I have tried both AT&T and T-Mobile in the past two weeks (switched from AT&T to T-Mobile and then back haha) so I think I'll have some personal experience to answer your question appropriately.

Unfortunately, I think in MOST CASES, you will only get 3G UMTS/HSPA+, which they call "4G" here. It will work for either AT&T (anywhere 3G/"4G" is available) or T-Mobile (anywhere 3G/"4G" has been "modernised", this includes LA). It will also work on 2G GSM/EDGE. Fortunately, the "4G" HSPA+ networks here are really good, sometimes exceeding 10 Mbps in my experience on both networks, so that won't be a problem for you.

AT&T supports LTE 850 (Band 5/CLR) just like your SQN100-3, but that's it. So I guess with AT&T, you'll get some LTE here in LA. The good thing is, 850 MHz is basically EVERYWHERE here in LA. Has been like that forever. haha but since AT&T's LTE Network also uses bands 2 (1900 Mhz/PCS), 4 (1700/AWS), and 17 (700 MHz/SMHC), which your model doesn't support, I guess you'll just switch off to "4G" (HSPA+) instead of LTE when you're at a band 5 dead zone if you get AT&T.

I think T-Mobile only has LTE on AWS and PCS over here so if you desperately want some LTE coverage, T-Mobile is not for you. However, AT&T will probably drain your battery since their sim cards block the ability to turn off LTE, unless of course you choose to turn it off by doing the escreen method. T-Mobile is cheap though, and offers a "$3/day" unlimited talk, text and web (200 MB 4G, then throttled to 2G) on prepaid, which I assume you will want since you'll only be here for a week. AT&T offers prepaid plans that are $2/day, but that won't include internet and you'll need to buy an EXPENSIVE data package with that, unless you want to be charged 1 cent/5 MB haha.

Why did I switch back to AT&T from T-Mobile? Because T-Mobile has so many dropped calls, dead zones and areas in LA where you drop to 2G-only during a daily commute, it's ridiculous. Sometimes I got an "all circuits are busy". haha for reference, my unlimited talk, text and 4G web plan on T-Mobile was $70. on AT&T, my new unlimited talk, text and 10 GB web is $115. T-Mobile was so bad that I was willing to pay almost double.

I hope that helps! Ask me if you need more help, if I can answer. haha

Here in Canada on Rogers u can get version 3 for lte 2600mhz support but in the us for lte coverage your better off with version 1.
