I love my q10, but I was comparing it to the 9900 and the tapered edges definitely made it seem high quality and much thinner.

Does anyone prefer the tapered sides of the 9900 to the curved sides of the q10?

I agree. The 9900 was down right classy. I even miss the metal bezel that surrounds the 9900. They could've just took the 9900 and expanded its form. But overall the Q10 is phenomenal

The tapered edges weren't important to me, and I don't think the Q10 feels any less quality. I don't care about my phone being thin, to me the Q10 feels just right, though so did my 9900.

I'm glad they have a black bezel on the Q10, or else I would have felt like I upgraded to the same phone. I guess I like the Q10 just the way it is.

q10 def feels fatter due to the lack of this beveled edge. agreed. plus the battery cover isn't as flush fitting nor sturdy.

Agreed about the battery cover, it sometimes slid off when I was pulling the device out of the holster.

I also liked the tapered back of the 99xx Bold better since it gave the illusion of being thinner (even though it wasn't) than the Q10.

But I think this change was necessary to fit the larger battery. It's a pretty significant difference to go from a 1230 mAh battery to a 2100 mAh while barely changing the size of the phone. I'm way more comfortable having a phone that lasts me all day than always worrying about if I'll be able to use mine at night.

Agreed. I also liked the 99xx. The aluminum band and the curved edges were amazing. The keyboard and the backlit trackpad complimented the design. I remembered taking my cases off just to look at it.

Definitely the most attractive phone I've used. EVERR. I kind of miss it.

good point. i'd def take the current q10 design if it really was required to get the extra bit of juice, though in my experience, my 5s has better battery life and it does a lot more data/display intensive things.

the q10 cover just doesn't feel like it'll age well. i swap my battery out daily and i can see it getting looser and looser over time.

plus mine does the reboot on slight impact sometimes depending on which battery i use. sh!t design.

That last problem is a known defect. Put a folded piece of paper under the battery. Won't happen again.

If BlackBerry put bb10 on the 9930, that would be a match made in heaven.

Yes, they will need to get rid of the track pad etc, I still feel the 9930 is one of the best typing devices ever. I type way faster on my old 9930 than I do on my z10 and my sisters q10.

No, this is just you personal opinion. To me the Q10 is much higher quality; but that soft on thing is subjective.

though in my experience, my 5s has better battery life and it does a lot more data/display intensive things.
Wow, just no... Abosultely not. A Q10 will beat the snot out of an iPhone batterywise; no question about that.

And yet again, no. I wouldn't have bought the Q10 is it just just a BB9900 body with an updated OS; and I can imagine more than a few people feel the same way as I do.

Yeah. 9900 is sturdy. Drop it a few times.. still steady. The bezel just got small dent.

But damn. Q10 looks sexy with black bezel. But the bezel arent strong like 9900.. never drop it even once. Already got a few scratch marks. Dont know where that comes from.

All in all.. I preferred Q10. Black all the way.

I thought that my 9900 was a sexy beast. That phone would have rocked with BB10. I had the Q10 for a couple of days. It was nice but I preferred the Bold 9900, design wise.

I used 9900 for over 1 year and now it's 7th month with Q10 and I must say both devices are awesome.
9900 was an absolute beauty and Q10 by any means is not short of another absolute beauty.
Initially I missed the trackpad but now I don't even miss it.
    It's all about moving forward.
    Thanks for initiating this thread.

The 9900 just need a bigger battery. Period. Then I would still have used it. I miss the metallic bezel because the Q feels a bit vulnerable. Got myself a "bulletproof" case just for that reason.
