Z10s were going for 1,000 when they were first released and eventually when down so I'm not surprised

Hardware specs like what? Like the best physical keyboard and custom made material on the back and insane battery life?

I don't get why everyone is tripping over the price. What would be a good price? $99 on a 2 year contract? You're dreaming. I'm on T-Mobile and they said I'll have to pay off the balance on my Z10 and then pay the down payment on the Q10 (plus tax on the full retail price).

T-Mobile has weird pricing now, but if I were on at&t, I'd expect to pay like $299 on a 2 year contract and would pleasantly surprised if it were less. Sure it would be nice if the price were $99, but that's pretty unreasonable.

With the reported 73 million BB keyboard users, releasing at a price that 's in line with the market only makes financial sense for BB to capitalize on a wonderful product.

BlackBerry can't fight Samsung price they don't have components factory. And they can't make little profit too..

Yup. The Q10 is the top end product. And right now you can't get them in a lot of places so it means higher prices again.

If you cannot wait a month or two after release date then you shouldn't be complaining about the price =)

There's a price to pay for getting anything first before the majority does. The prices of technology always depreciate unless it's rare or produced in limited quantities or has some significant meanings o.o...

    Exactly this!

Though it's unfortunate the Q is the same price as the Galaxy S4 in the UK- at Selfridges anyway!

Wait a month. The price will halve, like the Z10.

Pity you don't live in the UK. You can get a Q10 free on a $57 a month on a 2 year contract (38 UK pounds). That's how I got my Z10 for zero bucks too. : )

    Way to go!

Apple established what people would pay for a high end phone. Builders will take advantage of this price range as long as they can. Having said that, I believe the Q10 is slightly more than the most expensive iPhone and is in fact the most expensive smartphone on the market, right?

I admire them, actually, for claiming a super premium product and pricing it accordingly. I just think the decision on pricing was probably made sometime last year and they couldn't have know that AAPL stock would crash and Samsung would become the largest seller at a lower price for their best product, prompting AAPL to soften on price.

Now let's see if the software/hardware integration justifies the price tag.

Either wait a bit for the price to drop or wait for the R10 to be released and then wait a bit longer for the price of that one to drop...

In Canada there is no difference in the monthly fee whether we buy the BlackBerry Z10 or Q10 with or without contract. We get mugged.

BlackBerry 10 doesn't need Quad core. Quad Core on Android still doesn't run as smoothly as a Dual Core on BlackBerry 10.

Then again, component wise, Quad Core is only a few more dollars than Dual Core, so, if you were going by that, BlackBerry Q10 would be less than 10$$ cheaper than S4.

On another note, look at what the Q10 is made of, now look at what the S4 is made of. Give me premium coated Steel and grip coated weaved glass any day over cheap plastic and faux metal trimming.

seriously the price it's just wrong here in Panama the galaxy note 2 it's 580 but the z10 it's over 650

considering that the note it's bigger better specs and more apps and ecosystem you wonder why people will buy the Z10 over the note2

The note also runs a free operating system they didn't have to rebuild. If it's too pricey you should wait for the r series.

Agreed its a high price. But the q10 is intended to be a top price phone.
