Given its now lengthy time on the market, anyone aware of a decent extended battery for the Q10? Hopefully tried and tested and hopefully from a fairly reputable source?

I'm thinking about giving this one a go (link below). Has one 5 star review and I noticed that the photo of the battery has 2500mah shown printed on the battery itself despite the listing advertising it as a 2300mah! If it is actually 2500 then that's a lot more than the standard 2100, although I'm quite sceptical about the actual capacities of these third party batteries having not found some of them to be any better than the OEM originals (despite being advertised as higher capacity).

I used several 3rd party "extended" batteries with my phones (other than BB). It was satisfactory experience overall, however, they never provided as much as expected. For example, when I used 3,500 mAh instead of stock 1,800 mAh, usage time was probably 40% longer but certainly not 94% longer.
And I became very suspicious of 3rd party suppliers recenlty when 8 months old battery for my Lenovo laptop suddenly degraded down to 40% and then - in 2 weeks - to 20%...

Cheers for that. Yes I definitely think there's an aspect of improved capacity but not necessarily improved longevity sometimes with these 3rd party extended batteries. I'll most probably give the Lopedo one I linked a try and see how I get on.

I did indeed get it and I'm currently using it. On my first charging cycle and so far unfortunately it's is not performing as well as the stock blackberry 2100mah. But I'm going to give it a few more charge/discharge cycles before I judge it too critically as apparently there is an element of 'burn in' with modern lithium batteries whereby the battery life will improve after its first initial charging cycles. So i'll report back here in a few days.

But so far, quite disappointing as it is supposed to be higher capacity than the blackberry original. Hope it improves.

Quick note: just witnessed my battery level drop from 63% to 61% in one hit. That's 2 percent lost at the same time to be clear. All I was doing was trying to load forums on crackberry app with data connection (not wifi) and I had browser open too.

    Wow.
Why dont you use the OEM Battery Pack and switch the battery when needed? I love it on my Q10!

Well yeah I do find the OEM battery adequate giving me at least 1.5 days if not 2 (with overnight shut down) and I will go back to this if the Lopedo I'm testing continues to give me poor performance.

We all like the convenience of an extra powerful battery to reduce the frequency of charging needed so I'm just testing this battery to see if it is actually 'extended 2300-2500mah' as advertised, because asides from benefiting me if it was good, it would give others here the confidence to buy. So far it's been a let down though and I would actually describe it as reduced capacity as opposed to extended over the OEM 2100mah. I was aware this might be the case when I bought it, but couldn't resist the temptation to find out given its modest price tag.

I guess there's truth in the old adage that- if it seems too good to be true then it probably is..

I'm going to give this battery one more charging cycle to make sure it has settled/burnt in (currently on 2nd) and if no improvement i'll be going back to the OEM 2100mah and keeping this Lopedo as a spare.

So many tout the Q10's amazing battery life. My experience with Q10 battery life has been far less than some report.

Here's mine, pretty typical (I plug it in as soon as I get to work, or else it's almost dead when it's time to head home):

There are advices in the forum. I can hunt them down if you want.

In constant usage (and music over bluetooth), I still have my day :

That said, if you need more power, why not purchase the official charger bundle on eBay ? You will have a second battery for $14 and be able to charge your phone (and using it) without power it off. Very discreet in the palm of your hand :

I've noticed that if I get rid of the twitter app, I get better battery performance.

    Similar for some android apps.

Android apps in particular will be classed as 'System'. So if you think System battery use is too high over a short period it 'could' be android app background activity.

I don't use the facebook app.

Good call. I run an app called "Lose It" daily, which is an android app. I shut it down when not in use, however.

Also don't use Twitter, Facebook, or any social media. I'm an email, text and BBM guy primarily, and I use my phone for music on daily tain commutes to and from work.

I think to buy an extra oem battery is the smartest choice. I mean isn't that why we hang on to our Q10.

I agree, i mean seriously the size of the Q10 battery relative to even the smallest (comparable mAh of course) external usb type battery charger is a good amount more compact/lighter. I could keep an extra Q10 OEM battery in my pocket along with my phone and not even notice it.

Auto sync of email accounts, calendar, contacts can be another reason of battery drain.

The charge bundle is the way to go. I piggyback the charge so they are full in the morning. It is small and easy to keep in my Pocket. My phone is about 15 percent when I get home from work. I toss in a fresh battery and off I go to the gym. My wife is tethered to a external battery pack as I type this. She likes a full screen so I may trade her nexus 5 for a Z10 and get her the battery bundle too. The mugen seems too expensive.

Xiomi is supposed to be releasing their first product in US and that is a 4000mah battery charger for 13$. Now why will anyone spend 90$ on mugen or other batteries?

    Good point.

As a side note, I've lost confidence in Mugen since my old 9790 Bold Mugen battery mysteriously died way sooner than it should have. I'm completely put off shelling out for those grossly overpriced batteries now.
