    My Q10 is temporarily out of action, and I need to go back to my Z10.

    I have backed up all my Q10 data, with the intention of restoring it to Z10, but BB Link will not allow it. I can't remember what the message returned said, but Z10 is locked to a carrier (O2-UK), whereas Q10 is unlocked.

    Would a factory reset of Z10 be in order, or would that be pointless?
    Any advice welcome.

    you won't be able to load the q10 data on your Z10. If you do a factory reset of the Z10 you will start with no data.

    Well, if all your data is on your Q10 a factory reset wouldn't hurt. It's worth a try.

    But you should really check the OS versions installed on your devices. If the Z10 is on an older version of BB10 than that could be the reason.

    I don't think you can interchange backups across different models like that.

    If the file is for q10 you can only restore it to another q10 if I'm not mistaken.

    I was able to restore apps backed up from a z10 to a q5 and passport. All devices on the same bbid.

    I can confirm that. You can restore along all BB10 devices. Problems only occur when you have different versions of OS10 - which might be the case for you, since the Z10 is locked to a carrier and therefore might not have the same OS as your Q10.
