    Hi

I just saw this video for the Q10 it states that it run an Cortex A9 while it should use a a Snapdragon S4 Plus Processor..
    http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/s...blackberry-q10
    Look at 2:11
Why for middle east people they get cortex a9 cpu

Update: The cpu is OMAP 4470 the same cpu as Z10 stl100-1 which doesn't 4G LTE support
they may add support for 4G LTE the OMAP for thr Q10 but it doesn't explain why BB used a OMAP CPU other than S4 CPU

    Its slower than S4 cpu

    BlackBerry Z10 : STL100-1 VS STL100-2

    Specs:
STL100-1 = Texas Instruments OMAP 4470 (SoC) which has a dual-core CPU running at 1.5 GHz and a PowerVR SGX 544 GPU

STL100-2 = Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus (SoC) which has a dual-core CPU running at 1.5GHz, and a Adreno 225 GPU

Well it is supposed to be snapdragon cpu at least that is the official specs .
Why use a different cpu ?

    BlackBerry Q10 - Black - lass="left" />

The Etisalat UAE page lists the Chipset as a TI OMAP 4470 and CPU as Cortex A9 too. Where have you seen a Snapdragon CPU being mentioned? GSMArena also has no mention of a Snapdragon CPU - BlackBerry Q10 - Full phone specifications

Genuine question, not trolling or arguing.

EDIT: BlackBerry Q10 mobile phone - On Various networks | The Carphone Warehouse
Just found this. Now I'm definitely ordering one from the UK.

Cortex A9 is a cpu architecture type or class, this is the branding used by a company called ARM who owns and licenses the ARM based CPU architecture . Qualcomm, Apple, NVIDIA, TI and others license it and built hardware processor based on the ARM specification. The cortex A9 is one such standard and most mobile CPU's currently available are built on A9 architecture. The processor from Qualcomm may be called S4 as part of its own branding but is a cortex A9 and so do TI's OMAP 44xx series

The only thing i want to know are all Q10'S run Qualcomm CPU ??? because there is a performance between the S4 and TI OMAP series ??

Actually there is no significant performance difference between the two chipsets, the main reason to prefer the s4 is the LTE support.

If you look around this board, you will find a post which lists all the q10 variants and they all support LTE of some kind which means that the q10 will contain an s4.

ARM does two things - they either license out CPU designs (the actual blueprints) or they license out the architecture (more like guidelines).

TI, Samsung and Nvidia license ARM cores like the Cortex A9 and then add their own bits like GPUs and connectivity. That means they use ARM's own CPU blueprints in their SoCs.

Apple and Qualcomm are architecture licensees - they license the ARMv7 architecture and design their own cores that are compatible with it. Qualcomm's Krait cores in its Snapdragon SoCs are comparable to Cortex A9 and Cortex A15 cores. It's similar to AMD licensing the x86 architecture from Intel and building their own compatible CPUs without actually using Intel's designs. Intel has Pentium, AMD has Athlon, yet they're both compatible with each other.

I'm surprised Blackberry went with the TI SoC though. TI has left the consumer SoC business so it's an older design and the GPU performance is slower than the Snapdragon.

There isn't one, they all seem to be coming with LTE which implies they all use the qc s4.

I've only skimmed the thread, so forgive me if there is some redundancy in my answer. First of all, there are two variants of the Z10 in terms of CPU, one running the Snapdragon and the other an OMAP. The Snapdragon actually uses a proprietary architecture called Krait which lies somewhere between that of ARM A9 and A15 cores. Consult this chart for specifics. Additionally, the Snapdragon is built on a more efficient 28nm process than the OMAP which is 45nm. The OMAP does not support LTE which is why it is used in the Z10 and Q10 models which do not support LTE.
