If OP means the Gear series. Then the Gear Live which runs Android Wear won't work with BB10. The Gear Fit runs some RTOS system that can handle only basic tasks. The other Gear models run on Tizen. Android Wear won't work on BB10 since is has alot of Google Service dependencies but if OP has a Tizen based watch its worth a shot to try and run the Gear Manager app for Android and see what happens.

I don't have a smartwatch, but I do have a Razer Nabu X smartband. It does notifications and fitness tracking. With the Android apps, I can get the Nabu X to sync fitness data to Razer's servers and update firmware. I cannot get notifications to work.

Communications between the Nabu X and my BB10 device (Z30 in this case) is done via Bluetooth LE, which requires at least BB10 10.3.1.x. (BB10 10.3.1.x includes support for Android 4.3, API level 18, which includes Bluetooth LE.) Before invoking a Bluetooth sync between the Nabu X and the Z30 for the very *first time* with the Android apps, I see if the Z30 can see the Nabu X. If it does, then I would allow BB10 to pair with it, just so it's registered. (BB10 10.2.x will see it, but 10.2.x doesn't have Bluetooth LE, which is critical. Just having Bluetooth without LE doesn't work.) Once the device has been paired with BB10, then the Android apps can access it.

If I want to connect the device to an Android app, I *don't* let BB10 pair with it first, but turn Bluetooth off and launch the Android app. The screen will flash that the Android app requests Bluetooth access. After a moment, the device will connect to the Android app.

    In short:

    1. turn Bluetooth on and pair with device (only done once)
    2. turn Bluetooth off and launch the Android app (done everytime you launch the Android app). If the Android apps disconnects, it will reconnect by itself, most of the time.

Notifications don't seem to work. I think the notifications communication between BB10->Android->device doesn't work yet, without specialized software on the BB10 side (see BB10 Pebble apps). For example, a call on BB10 doesn't seem to send the right message to the Android app to trigger the device's notification. Something does happen, but the message doesn't seem to be correct.

In this case, I think there is no way since it runs Android Wear platform which is kind of integrated into the phone OS. Pebble and some other can work cause you can get separate apps for communication.
