Why do my videos now show up in the picture library. Is that the new format in 10.2?

No it's not. Are you sure that's where they landed? I always separate my videos into a folder labelled videos. How did you copy these videos that they landed here?

I don't think I did anything, I was just scrolling through my pict library and started seeing all my videos which are still in the video folder also.
When I look in the file manager , they are all separated where they should be, Picts,videos. But when I go into the pict app and scroll through he album tab,the vids show up.

Are the videos downloaded or recorded with your camera? I ask because the the ones recorded by your camera will show up in the camera folder of the pics app.

Yes,they are the videos I recorded. So are they duplicates taking up space or just icons.

They're not duplicates so you don't have to worry about space
