Hi, I'm new to NFC and was wondering if the native Smart Tag app can activate the mobile Hotspot? I found settings to turn wifi, bluetooth and other connections on, but not Hotspot.

I've already bought a few NTAG203 and having fun with them.

Any ideas?

Wow, no one has a clue how to program a smart tag to toggle hotspot on and off! I don't mind delving in developers mode if it means actually getting this to work.

And that's the drawback to this technology, although it's been around for quite a while now, it's uses are still very limited, especially that the smart tags compatible with Blackberry Q10 have minuscule memory, not even big enough to save a contact. Yeah, it's nice to scan a tag and have it turn off or on wifi, bluetooth, or your alarm, but this is childs play. It has much more potential than this.

Anyone?!

Ohhhhhh! Hotspot toggle?
In 10.2.2 leak has more tag options , not sure for now how to set it

That would only toggle the mobile network settings, not the hotspot. I don't understand why Mobile Hotspot and tethering were left out of the menu? It's just frustrating!

I myself have been trying to figure out how to toggle the Hot-Spot with NFC. I am starting to be convinced that there is no access in the NFC tasks setup to allow for this.

I have been using NFC tags for about a month now. I have been using NFC file sharing between Blackberry phones since this feature has been available for this.

I am finding the tags very handy to perform quick tasks. I program the tags, and stick them on to something in the area where I will want to do the task. For example, when I get in to my car, I have a tag at where I mount my phone, which starts the phone task, and forces the connection to the car's hands-free system in case I forget to turn on the Bluetooth. I have a key chain with an NFC tag that starts a stock price program and it comes up with all the current quotes in my watch list.

The tags I have can only hold 500 bytes, but these are doing the job for me.

I don't think there is a direct way to turn the hot spot on or off.
However there are "Smart triggers" on later official OS releases.
One of these triggers allows you to launch an app. There apps in BlackBerry World which claim to toggle the hot spot. None of which I have tried.
