I think I have the same problem. On my old Q10 I used to be able to just dial any number from the homescreen and it would recognise that I was entering a number, not letters. I got a new Q10 and now I actually have to go into the phone app to make a call. It's a real pain.

I thought it was just me with this issue! I'll add this question though. Did you have speed dial set up so that you just hit a long press on a button to call people? I had 6 set up for my most called numbers. All gone now!

They worked just fine for me the last 2 years on my Q10 But the forced update to 10.3.2.440 took them away. I used numbers 3,4,5,7 and 9 for family members. Now when I hit those it does different things like open text app. I'm ticked off about it, since it is a deeply ingrained habit I've used since my 1st cell phones from back in the 90's... I'm hoping there will be a fix but I think it was a short cut addition that many users will like. Heck, if they'd just used letter keys like pressing T for text, B for BBM I would be happy with it myself! Thoughts?

You can fix and update the speed dials manually....the only one you can't change is the W/1 key for Voicemail.

Go to Settings, Shortcuts and Speed Dial. You can set up speed dials that way. For instance, set up M to call mom, D to call dad.

You still should be able to dial the number from home screen though, I can on my Classic and Q10.
