Under the Network Technology setting, I have 3 choices:

    UMTS/GSM
    Global
    LTE/CDMA

I have Verizon in U.S. (New York). Only the last 2 settings work. What is the difference between these 3, and is there a difference in usage of battery life?

The first one appears to be for 2G and 3G only, but once I set it there, it cannot connect to any network.

The first one is used for over seas and the second two can be used in the states either one will work. Mine came set to global I set it to LTE/CDMA.
    LTE is 4G
    CDMA is 3G
    Global is basically all three

Not to beat a dead horse from other threads, but the LTE/CDMA option doesn't allow you to choose between one or the other on Verizon. You get "highest available" regardless of signal strength.

So what is the difference in battery life, if any, between the last 2? Mine came set to Global.

None, when you're in the US on the VZ network.
