Those were made of different materials! The Q10 has a coated glass weave back, which is the most prominent difference. Seems like BlackBerry couldn't or didn't want to use a white variant of woven glass if that is even possible. The white Q instead just uses a more common plastic back.

It's definitely a different material. The black one is a higher quality compared to our plastic white one. Not to mention, the black one has tons of grip compared to our slippery (I feel this is a big mistake by BlackBerry) white Q10.

I actually like the white better. Looks more classy, IMHO. But that's personal. There's absolutely nothing to suggest that black is more durable. Grippy, yes.

I just received my new black Q10 yesterday from ShopBB and I enjoy the feel of it.

I specifically chose the black one because of it's luxurious glass weave on the back that the white Q10 doesn't have.

The black Q10 is a great phone to use without a case just like my black Z30.

I believe the reason for the difference in the backs is that a white glass weave would be at risk of picking up dyes from jeans and other clothes. That's what I've seen reviewers say.

The durability seems the same for the device as a whole though. But the black back does look better even though I own the white.

I've got a black Q10, and a while ago I switched out the black metal frame for the silver one found on the white variant. Within a week, the silver frame was showing scratches whereas the black one was still unmarked after over a year's use. So it would seem to me that the coating applied to the metal frame on the black Q10 renders this component at least more resistant

I don't think the frame is metal but more like PC plastic. But I could be wrong.

Having disassembled it, I can tell you that the majority of the bezel is indeed metal, although the bottom part under the keyboard where the speaker is has a plastic cover over the metal.
